A detection apparatus comprising a body having a longitudinal direction; a Ranging Time-of-Flight (RTOF) sensor positioned to direct a beam generally along at least part of the body of the upper part of the body and angled upwards, and a processor arranged to register objects or persons crossing the beam at greater than a minimum distance from the sensor to detect climbing on the object.

Anti-climb system

An access control system for restricting access through a passageway includes a shaft rotatable about a central axis; a barrier fixed to the shaft to rotate therewith; and a brake assembly. The brake assembly includes a sun gear rotatable about the central axis, a carrier, and a ring gear, wherein one of the carrier or the ring gear is fixed against rotation and the other of the carrier or ring gear is connected to the shaft to rotate therewith. A plurality of planet gears are rotatably connected to the carrier, each planet gear being disposed between and engaging with each of the sun gear and the ring gear. An electromagnetic brake comprises an electromagnet and an armature. The armature is connected to or integral with the sun gear to rotate and move axially therewith. At least one of the electromagnet or the armature is moveable between an operative position and an inoperative position.

Access control system

A system for monitoring the movement of people through a passageway comprising two or more time of flight sensors deployed across the passageway in a direction substantially transverse to the direction of movement of a person or object through the passageway. The system further comprises means to determine data regarding people or objects passing through the passageway based on the time of flight of a signal measured by the two or more sensors.

Turnstile apparatus comprising a plurality of turnstile lanes, a camera mounted to view the lanes in its field of view and a remote controller, connected over a network to the camera and lanes, the controller having a display associated with it and means for controlling operation of the lanes, the camera being adapted to transmit video images of its field of view to the controller; the controller being adapted to display the video from the camera and further adapted to generate buttons, each button being associatable with a particular lane, the button being moveable to a position on the screen where it is in the vicinity of the lane, wherein operation of the button by a user controls operation of its associated lane, including operating a barrier, forming part of the lane, to open.

Turnstile

A floor protector for a security access system, comprising a rigid floor assembly having front and rear edges, the floor assembly comprising at least one floor plate and a base mounted underneath the floor plate, the base being at least partially spaced from the floor plate enabling cabling to pass between the two, and elastomeric entry and exit ramps supporting the front and rear edges of the floor assembly; wherein the base has protrusions at its front and rear edges which locate within respective grooves in respective elastomeric ramps, spaced a distance above the lower surface of the ramp, so as to support the base spaced above the whole or a major part of the floor that it overlies.

Floor protector

A turnstile comprising means for dictating a person entering or exiting the lane, a barrier positioned to move between a position blocking a lane and a position where it allows passage through the lane, under control of a motor; means for checking the credentials of a person attempting to pass through the lane and a brake, the turnstile having a mode of operation in which in the event that a user enters an exit side of the lane without presenting a credential, and an authorized person is not detected on the entry side of the lane, the brake is unlocked and the barrier is held in position in a closed mode but is able to be pushed or pulled by the person who has entered from the exit side in order for that person to exit; and the motor assists movement in the pushing or pulling direction by moving the barrier at a controlled speed, less than a speed at which it operates the barrier if the exiting user presents a credential.

Turnstile allowing emergency exit

A detection system is disclosed comprising one or more transmitters of electromagnetic radiation and one or more cooperating receivers characterized in that at least one optical element is provided which utilizes total internal reflection to redirect the path of radiation such that the transmitter is not directly in line with the receiver.
