A versatile orthopedic device is arranged to convert between ligament and osteoarthritis treatment, and to accommodate a variety of leg anatomies. The orthopedic device is preferably configured as a double-upright brace indicating struts, frame component sections and associated hinges preferably intended to be along both medial and lateral sides of a wearer's leg. A strap kit with an unloading strap system may be added to the orthopedic device for conversion into an orthopedic device for osteoarthritis relief.

Versatile orthopedic device

A dynamic tension system connects to an orthopedic device having a frame and a hinge connected to the frame. The dynamic tension system includes a cable, an adjustment mechanism connected to the cable and arranged to incrementally wind or release the cable, and a tension control device connected to the adjustment mechanism and arranged to limit the adjustment mechanism from winding of the cable past a predetermined tension level.

Dynamic tension system for orthopedic device

An orthopedic device includes a base shell having ankle and foot receiving portions. The base shell forms an opening over a dorsal aspect of the base shell. A dorsal shell is contoured to generally correspond to the opening in the base shell. At least one tightening member is connectable to the base shell and extendable over the dorsal shell to secure the base and dorsal shells together about a user's lower leg and foot. At least one inflatable bladder is provided in the ankle receiving portion of the base shell. A pump assembly is arranged to inflate the at least one inflatable bladder. The pump assembly is situated on the at least one tightening member such that the position of the pump assembly is substantially fixed relative to the base shell as a user walks in the orthopedic device.

Orthopedic device

A caliper is arranged for applying predetermined constant pressure to a joint or other anatomy under measurement. The caliper includes an elongate housing, a first jaw connected to the housing, a second jaw slidably connected to the housing, the first and second jaws spaced apart by a predetermined minimum distance, and a constant force spring engaging the first and second jaws. The constant force spring biases the first and second jaws toward one another. A method includes using the caliper to measure anatomical dimensions.
