A system and method is provided which enables pixel data stored in multiple memory pages to be combined in one data packet, thereby reducing the number of data packets needed to transfer a group of reference pixel data. In one embodiment for reducing the reference data fetch bandwidth, the method as applied to a real-time video decoding system optimally combines pixel data stored in different memory pages, and fits the pixel data into a predetermined number of data packets.

Fetching pixel data with reduced memory bandwidth requirement

A technique for providing enhanced advertising over the Internet or an intranet is disclosed. In one embodiment, an advertiser advertises a product or service in the usual manner except that an alphanumeric code is identified in the advertisement. The consumer, desiring additional information regarding the advertisement, uses the Internet to log onto a particular website common to all the advertisers (the service provider's website) and then enters the code for the ad. The particular code then accesses an enhanced ad (a web page) that may be specifically directed to a particular geographic location or otherwise customized for the particular consumer. The enhanced ad may allow the customer to obtain coupons, purchase the product or obtain additional information.

Advertising enhancement using the internet

A macroblock tiling format method and system for implementing the method during an MPEG decoding process is disclosed. The macroblock tiling format groups picture data samples into tiles, each tile including a combination of luminance and/or chrominance data samples corresponding to a given number of macroblocks. Picture data samples in a tile is mapped to memory locations within a single memory page of a buffer memory which temporarily stores decoded pictures.
