Compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a methyl or ethyl group, R.sup.2 represents a bromine or chlorine atom, and R.sup.3 represents a hydrogen, chlorine, bromine or iodine atom, an alkyl or alkenyl group containing up to 4 carbon atoms, or a cyano or trifluoromethyl group, are new compounds possessing antimalarial properties.

Pyrimidine derivatives

The invention provides new imidazole derivatives of the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a methyl or ethyl group, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4, which may be the same or different, each represent a hydrogen or halogen atom or an alkyl or alkoxy group which may optionally be substituted by one or more fluorine atoms, and R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 do not all represent hydrogen atoms, which possess useful herbicidal properties.

Imidazole derivatives

Compounds of the formula: ##SPC1## Wherein R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, iso-propyl, n-butyl, iso-butyl or sec-butyl, R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or alkyl of 1 through 4 carbon atoms or cycloalkyl of 3 or 4 carbon atoms, and R.sup.3 represents hydrogen, methyl or ethyl, all of which are novel except for three compounds, have been found to be of use in the prevention of coccidiosis in chickens.
