A duct assembly for flowing fluids includes a first duct positioned above the ground. The first duct is configured to flow a first fluid. In addition, the duct assembly includes a second duct positioned above the ground. The second duct is configured to flow a second fluid. The first duct and the second duct isolate the first fluid and the second fluid from each other. Further, the duct assembly includes a stand supporting the first duct and the second duct above the ground. The stand has an upper end positioned below the first duct and the second duct.

A method for treating a flue gas that includes determining a sulfur trioxide concentration within the flue gas and determining an injection rate for a sulfur trioxide sorbent based upon the sulfur trioxide concentration. Also, a method for treating a flue gas that includes determining a sulfuric acid dew point for the flue gas and determining a coolant injection rate for a coolant to be injected into the flue gas to cause the flue gas to have a temperature of from about 20 to about 30&#xb0; F. above the sulfuric acid dew point.

Systems and methods for treatment of flue gas

Contemplated configurations and methods are presented for effectively controlling the temperature in an oxy-fuel combustion system. Contemplated systems preferably introduce water independent of the fuel and oxygen into the combustion chamber. Water is injected through one or more nozzles, wherein water is atomized or sprayed, creating boundary layer cool zones in a boiler system and wherein water is recovered.

Thermally controlled combustion system

A contiguous duct assembly has first and second ducts that share at least one common wall element. An expansion joint is formed at the end of the contiguous duct assembly using a connector element that extends with respective portions into the internal spaces of the first and second ducts. First and second expansion fabrics are coupled to the respective portions from the inside of the ducts using fasteners that are accessible from and disposed within the internal space of the first and second ducts.

Systems and methods directed to cleaning a flue gas are described, in which a column housing can be configured to receive a feed stream, and includes an absorber configured to produce a clean stream that is substantially depleted of at least one of SOand CO. The absorber can comprise at least one of (1) a primary COcapture system disposed downstream of a gas conditioning system and (2) a primary acid gas removal system disposed upstream of a gas conditioning system. The gas conditioning system can also be disposed in the column housing.

Multi-purpose absorber

A lean solvent is produced from a COrich solvent using heat exchange with a conditioned stream in a reboiler. A power generator generates a low pressure steam from high pressure steam. A portion of the low pressure steam is sent to a fluid conditioning unit, which conditions the low pressure steam to a temperature and pressure required to allow for the production of lean solvent from a rich solvent in a reboiler.

Steam efficiency with non depletive condensing and adiabatic solvent heating

Systems and methods are contemplated for down-flow cooling of a feed gas. Contemplated systems can include a housing having an inlet conduit disposed within an upper portion and configured to receive a first stream. First and second stages can be disposed within the housing, with the first stage disposed upstream of the second stage and having a first cooling stream, and the second stage having a second cooling stream that is colder than the first cooling stream. The housing can be configured such that the first stream is cooled by down-flow heat exchange with the first and second cooling streams to produce a conditioned stream depleted of at least a portion of water condensed from the feed gas.

Down-flow direct contact cooler

A flue gas treatment process and system is presented. The system includes a fan capable of moving a flue gas through a flue gas desulfurizer, direct contact cooler, and COabsorber, without the need for a booster fan. The system also includes a direct contact cooler and COabsorber that are configured to withstand gas conditions present at the flue gas desulfurizer exit. When the direct contact cooler and COabsorber are shutdown, the speed of the fan is lowered and the flue gas continues to flow through the cooler and COabsorber and out a chimney. The overall cost of installing, operating, and maintaining the system is lower than that of conventional processes and systems.

Post-combustion conditioning systems are described that include a flue gas conditioning device configured to condition an exhaust stream to produce a conditioned stream. First and second outlet ducts can be fluidly coupled to, and substantially supported by, the flue gas conditioning device. This advantageously can eliminate costly ductwork, reduce the space required, and reduce the pressure drop of the system. The first outlet duct can fluidly couple the flue gas conditioning device to an exhaust duct, such that the conditioned stream can flow from the first conditioning device via the first outlet duct.

Multi-directional outlet transition and hood

Systems and methods are described for reducing the start-up time of flue gas conditioning processes. Such processes can include a gas removal unit configured to selectively remove a reactive gas from a flue gas stream using a catalyst and reagent to produce a scrubbed stream that is substantially depleted of the reactive gas. A heating device can advantageously be used upstream of the gas removal unit to thereby preheat the catalyst to an operational temperature and thereby reduce the start-up time of the process.

Plants and method of treating a combustion gas are presented in which NOx compounds are removed from the combustion gas to a predetermined level to thereby create a pre-cleaned combustion gas from which COis removed in an absorber using an amine solvent. Preferably, the predetermined level of NOx compounds reduces nitro-amines, especially nitrosamine emission from the absorber to quantities of equal or less than 100 ppb.

Prevention of nitro-amine formation in carbon dioxide absorption processes

A method of scrubbing mercury compounds and nitrogen oxides from a gas stream employing a scrubbing operation. The method involves the contact of the stream which contains mercury, SOand NOcompounds with a sorbent to remove at least a portion of the latter compounds. This results in a partially cleaned stream. The method further involves contacting the latter stream with an oxidant to oxidize and remove substantially all residual nitrogen oxides, mercury and mercury compounds remaining in the stream.

Methods for scrubbing gas streams to remove acid gases including sulfur dioxide, mercury-containing substances, and/or nitrogen oxides from the gas stream. The gas stream is contacted with a potassium-based sorbent effective for removing at least a portion of the acid gases. The partially cleaned gas stream is then contacted with an oxidant effective to remove at least a portion of the nitrogen oxides and/or mercury-containing substances after partially removing the acid gas substance.

Method for removing sulfur dioxide, mercury, and nitrogen oxides from a gas stream

A scoop is used to collect a liquid slurry upstream of an internal collection tank. The scoop is in fluid communication with a downcomer, which receives at least part of the collected slurry, thereby maintaining a continuous flow of liquid slurry through the scoop to prevent plugging. Collected slurry can be removed for treatment from the scoop or the downcomer. In an application to a wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) scrubber, the scoop collects an effluent slurry of partially reacted liquid scrubbing reagent and scrubbing byproducts before they drain into an internal reaction tank. Partially reacted liquid scrubbing reagent and scrubbing byproducts can therefore be withdrawn for treatment before the addition of fresh reagent alters the pH of the treatment stream.
