A two-dimensional fast Fourier transform converter utilizes parallel digital fast Fourier transform processors and a frame serial processing path to convert two-dimensional images of large pixel count (512.times.512 or higher) and high dynamic range (16 bits of pixel intensity quantization) at a rate equal to or exceeding real time processing rate of 30 frames/second. The parallel processors are organized for performing the row and column transformations in a highly parallel and efficient manner. In one embodiment, a uni-directional processing path with segmented image data busses to streamline the data movement is used. In a second embodiment, a bi-directional processing path is utilized such that the fast Fourier transform processors perform row and column conversions sequentially, thus reducing by a factor of two the number of individual fast Fourier transform processors required. The converter includes three port SRAM working memories, toggled DRAM image frame storage memories, and a data transfer and sequence controller.

An electronic blanking system having a plurality of inputs from a number of radio frequency transmitters and a plurality of outputs for supplying blanking pulses to receivers which are in proximity to the transmitters includes input circuitry for processing input pulses from the inputs to produce processed input signals. Timers alter the timing of the processed input signals as required to produce the needed blanking pulses. Matrix means are provided for routing each blanking pulse to the outputs. A processor controls each matrix to determine the routing. Output drivers supply the blanking pulses, at predetermined voltage levels, to the outputs. The processor also controls the timers to determine the manner in which the timing is altered. The timers includes at least one of a delay for delaying the processed input signals, a stretching circuit for increasing the length of the processed input signals, and a truncator for truncating the length of the processed input signals. Each matrix includes a product generator for determining logical products of at least two processed input signals, and a sum generator for determining the logical sum of the logical products. An externally programmable memory has a first portion for storing instructions for the processor and a second portion for storing data to determine at least one of the operations of the timers and each matrix. At least the second portion of the memory is an electronically erasable read only memory.

Adaptive and programmable blanker

A transmitter for producing video and audio signals and transmitting the signals includes an encoder for encoding stereo audio signals with the video signals. The audio signals encoded by the encoder constitute a broadband audio signal of approximately 15 kHz. A receiver for converting signals received from the transmitter to a picture and stereo sound includes a decoder for deriving the stereo audio signals from the received signals.
