The present invention relates to a catheter construction and method of use suitable for use in navigating within a body lumen or vessel, such as a vein, artery, nasal cavity, esophagus, etc. to assist in the performance of various procedures. The device can include a flexible tubular member having a proximal end, a distal end, and channel extending substantially between the proximal end and the distal end, a stiffening sleeve positioned at the distal end of the tubular member to provide stiffness thereto so that a removable procedural tool can be attached to the tubular member, and an elongated non-elastic tether situated within the channel of the tubular member and secured at one end to the distal end of the member, such that when the tether is held in tension, the tether acts to minimize the tubular member from deviating from a neutral state.

Catheter device system and method of use

A device for collecting a biological sample in a patient includes a collection portion having a first axial end portion and a second axial end portion. The second axial end portion has a collapsed position and an expanded position. The second axial end portion moves in an axial direction relative to the first axial end portion when the second axial end portion moves between the collapsed position and the expanded position. The second axial end portion extends axially into the first axial end portion and has a concave shape when in the collapsed position. The second axial end portion is convex when in the expanded position.

A device for collecting a biological sample in a subject, the device including an inflatable portion attached to a tubular member, and designed to expand from within the tubular member when inflated and to retract within the tubular member, a surface on the inflatable portion provided with varied thickness to facilitate movement of the inflatable portion between an expanded state and a retracted state, and a plurality of projections on the surface to allow collection of the biological sample when the inflatable portion is in the expanded state.

Device for biological cell collection and method of use

Device includes a flexible, hollow tube portion having a resiliently deformable mushroom shape tip at the inner end thereof to retain the tube in the stomach or other viscera of a patient and provide an enlarged internal chamber for the mounting of a one-way flapper valve therein and the seating of the flapper valve against the inner end of the tube portion to prevent reflux of gastric contents while permitting the influx of fluids into the stomach or other viscera of the patient through the tube portion. A pair of oppositely extending, relatively short, flat wings are integrally molded on the outer end of the tube portion to make the tube portion self-retaining and flush up against the skin. The wings are relatively narrow in width, whereby the tube portion may be rotated a part turn to bring the wings into contact with different areas of the skin if irritation should occur. A plug is integrally molded on the outer end of one of the wings by a flexible membrane which permits the plug to be inserted into the tube at the outer end thereof and removed therefrom as desired.
