A composite downhole tool, such as a frac plug or a bridge plug, having a composite sleeve located around a composite mandrel and defining an overlapping or overlapped section between the two. One or more shear pins with each shear pin having a pin hole is provided with the downhole tool to reinforce the downhole tool from interlaminate shear. The one or more shear pins can further be reinforced from rotation by overlapping at least part of the one or more pins with a lip of a ring.

High strength connection for composite sleeve and composite mandrel and related methods

A new resin blend is disclosed, which may be referred to as a hybrid resin. The resin blend includes an effective amount of benzoxazine resin or benzoxazine derivative mixed with at least one of epoxy resin, phenolic resins and other thermosetting polymers at varying ratios.

A composite cone assembly for use with a frac or bridge plug system is discussed herein having shaped outer contours and the strength needed for high pressure applications but with reduced machining requirements by forming part of the cone assembly from a high strength fiber material and the contoured surface from molding, such as from injection molding or compression molding.

Optimized composite downhole tool for well completion

Methods, devices, and systems of downhole tools are disclosed. The tools each has a sleeve attached to a mandrel to form a composite frac or bridge plug or similar coupling to a downhole tool tubing product without the use of shear pins. The engagement between the mandrel and the sleeve includes a load breaking ledge, threads, ring and groove combination, and helical spiral groove with a helical coil.
