A position tracking system includes one or more beacon transmitters and one or more beacon receiver systems configured to be disposed on an object. Each of the one or more beacon receiver systems includes one or more photodetectors configured to receive signals from the one or more beacon transmitters, and an analog-to-digital convertor to convert analog signals received by the one or more photodetectors to digital signals. Each of the one or more beacon receiver systems also includes a memory and a processor configured to execute instructions stored on the memory. The instructions includes receiving signals collected by the one or more photodetectors, converting the received signals to digital signals, and processing the digital signals.

Positioning system based on visible light communications

This application relates to an apparatus and method for automated inspection of formed metal containers. More specifically, it pertains to the use of machine vision systems to identify and correlate manufacturing defects occurring in formed food and beverage containers to specific manufacturing paths or sources of origin (eg., body makers) used in the container forming process. The disclosed invention is enabled by the placement of a machine-readable code on specific portions of the can body during the forming process and the use of illumination exposure techniques.

A metal halide lamp () includes a discharge vessel () which may be formed of a ceramic material. The vessel defines an interior space (). An ionizable fill is disposed in the interior space. The ionizable fill includes an inert gas and a halide component. The halide component includes a sodium halide, a cerium halide, at least one of a thallium halide and an indium halide, and optionally a cesium halide. The cerium halide is at least about 9 mol % of the halide component. At least one electrode () is positioned within the discharge vessel so as to energize the fill when an electric current is applied thereto.
