A termination assembly for a heater assembly includes a plurality of resistive heaters arranged in discrete power phases, each resistive heater comprising a resistive heating element surrounded by dielectric material and a sheath. The termination assembly includes a plurality of electrically nonconductive members. Each electrically nonconductive member includes a plurality of apertures configured to receive power pins of the plurality of resistive heaters. The termination assembly includes a plurality of connectors configured to connect the power pins to the electrically nonconductive members. Each electrically nonconductive member includes a number of the plurality of connectors corresponding to a number of power pins being terminated. The termination assembly includes an electrical circuit embedded in or disposed on at least one of the plurality of electrically nonconductive members.

Encapsulated bus circuit for fluid heating systems

An electric heater includes a first busbar, a second busbar, a third busbar, a neutral busbar, a plurality of first heating elements, a plurality of second heating elements, and a plurality of third heating element. A first end of each first heating element is coupled to the first busbar for electrical communication therewith. A second end of each first heating element is coupled to the neutral busbar for electrical communication therewith. A first end of each second heating element is coupled to the second busbar for electrical communication therewith. A second end of each second heating element is coupled to the neutral busbar for electrical communication therewith. A first end of each third heating element is coupled to the third busbar for electrical communication therewith. A second end of each third heating element is coupled to the neutral busbar for electrical communication therewith.

Three phase medium voltage heater

A heater includes a first conducting pin, a second conducting pin, and a plurality of resistance coils. Each resistance coil includes a first end connected to the first conducting pin and a second end connected to the second conducting pin. At least one resistance coil among the plurality of resistance coils has a continuously variable pitch. In one form, the plurality of resistance coils are connected in a parallel circuit with the first and second conducting pin. A first resistance coil among the plurality of resistance coils may have a diameter that is different than a second resistance coil among the plurality of resistance coils.

Variable pitch resistance coil heater

A resistance element includes a resistance coil having a first end and a second end opposite the first end. The resistance coil defines a plurality of first portions defining a first constant diameter and a plurality of second portions defining a second constant diameter smaller than the first diameter. At least one of the first portions and the second portions has a continuously variable pitch. The resistance coil may also further define two third portions, each third portion being disposed adjacent to a corresponding first or second end. The resistance element may be disposed between first and second conducting pins in a heater.

A heater includes a resistance coil, a first conducting pin and a second conducting pin. The resistance coil includes a first end connected to the first conducting pin, and a second end connected to the second conducting pin. The resistance coil defines a first portion adjacent the first end, a second portion adjacent the second end, and a third portion disposed between the first portion and the second portion. At least one of the first, second, and third portions has a continuously variable pitch along its length.

A heater is provided that includes a resistance coil assembly defining a first end portion having a first conducting pin and a second end portion having a second conducting pin, and a resistance coil disposed between the first end portion and the second end portion, and a first zone adjacent the first end portion with a constant pitch. The resistance coil further defines a continuously variable pitch extending along a length of the resistance coil from the first zone to the second end portion. The continuously variable pitch provides a variable watt density such that a predetermined temperature profile is provided along the sheath.

A heater is provided that includes a resistance coil assembly defining a first end portion having a first conducting pin and a second end portion having a second conducting pin, and a resistance coil disposed between the first end portion and the second end portion, the resistance coil defining a plurality of different pitches between the first end portion and the second end portion. An insulating material surrounds the resistance coil assembly, and a sheath surrounds the insulating material. The plurality of different pitches provide a variable watt density such that a predetermined temperature profile is provided along the sheath.

A fluid heat exchanger for use in a fluid heating system is disclosed that includes a rapidly heatable inside tube surrounded by a hollow outside tube for heating a fluid flowing between the inside tube and the outside tube for circulation through the fluid heating system. When the inside tube is rapidly heated, the circulated fluid is rapidly heated to a predetermined temperature for use in the fluid heating system.

Rapid response electric heat exchanger

A multicell heater is shown with typically round outer tubing, containing a plurality of resistive heating elements having a common inner sheath. The inner sheath has a preferably non-circular cross-section and is given a hairpin bend to form a &ldquo;U&rdquo; shape. The resulting configuration, which is much less expensive than conventional multicell heaters, provides efficient heating at the toe end&mdash;a usually unheated (&ldquo;cold&rdquo;) zone in conventional multicell heaters.
