A method for social networking of mobile devices based upon telephone numbers of the mobile devices includes receiving user profile information and telephone numbers of contacts from a plurality of users' mobile devices; at least one of creating and updating respective user profiles based upon the telephone numbers of the users' mobile devices and the received profile information; identifying relationships among the users based at least upon the contacts contained in the contacts information; and establishing a social network group including at least two of the users based upon the identified relationships among the users.

Social networking of mobile devices

A method of predicting user-item ratings includes providing a first matrix of hidden variables associated with individual items, a second matrix of hidden variables associated with individual users, a third matrix of predicted user-item ratings derived from an inner product of vectors in the first and second matrices, and a fourth matrix of actual user-item ratings. The first and second matrices are alternately fixed and solved with a weighted-&#x3bb; regularization of at least one of the first and second matrices by minimizing a sum of squared errors between actual user-item ratings in the fourth matrix and corresponding predicted user-item ratings in the third matrix repeatedly until a stopping criterion is satisfied.

Predicting user-item ratings

Acquired data about communication interactions is used to form constructs which are indicative of an entity and communities-of-practice within the entity. A construction may be derived from the addressing data associated with the interactions to depict a communication network construct of the organization over time. The construction is selectively decomposed to smaller communications networks indicative of said communities-of-practice.
