This disclosure provides gypsum cement compositions which comprise an aggregate stabilizing mixture containing a combination of a polysaccharide gum and a polyacrylamide-gelatin blend, and methods for making and using these compositions, including pourable/pumpable floor underlayment slurries and methods for forming high strength underlayment on different substrates.

DTPA-coated synthetic calcined gypsum is provided with alpha-like properties and obtained by spray-coating the synthetic caclined gypsum with DTPA. Cementitious compositions comprising DTPA-coated synthetic calcined gypsum and low water demand are provided as well. Methods for controlling an open time of a cementitious slurry by increasing or decreasing the amount of DTPA-coated synthetic calcined gypsum in the slurry are provided as well.

Compositions with synthetic gypsum and methods

A cementitious hydrating patch composition is provided with improved strength and abrasion resistance. The patch comprises Portland cement in the amount from 2% to 10%, Calcium Sulfate Hemihydrate in the amount from 2% to 30%, Gypsum in the amount from 0% to 15%, Calcium Aluminate Cement in the amount from 15% to 40%, Calcium Carbonate in the amount from 0% to 40%, at least one filler in the amount from 1% to 30%; and at least one binder in the amount from 10% to 40%, wherein all amounts are based on dry weight of the composition. Methods of preparing and using the patch composition are provided as well.

Cementitious patch compositions and methods

An oil well cementing product comprising DTPA-coated synthetic calcined gypsum, at least one accelerator, at least one retarder, at least one plasticizer and limestone is provided. Also provided are methods for cementing oil wells with mixtures comprising DTPA-coated synthetic calcined gypsum, at least one accelerator, at least one retarder, at least one plasticizer and limestone.

An improved gypsum slurry that includes water, calcium sulfate hemihydrate, a polycarboxylate dispersant and a modifier. The modifier is chemically configured to improve the efficacy of the polycarboxylate dispersant. Preferred modifiers include cement, lime, slaked lime, soda ash, carbonates, silicates and phosphates.

A gypsum slurry includes water, a hydraulic component including stucco and a polycarboxylate dispersant. The dispersant has two repeating units wherein the first repeating unit is an olefinic unsaturated mono-carboxylic acid repeating unit or an ester or salt, and the second repeating unit is a vinyl or allyl group bound to a polyether by an ether linkage. The slurry can be made into a gypsum panel.

An example embodiment of a mixture to be employed in conjunction with water for preparing a slurry that hydrates to form a high strength flooring compound comprises about 50% to about 98% by weight calcium sulfate hemihydrate, about 0.002% to about 1% by weight polysaccharide, and about 0.02% to about 2.5% by weight of a lignosulfanate.

Gypsum mixtures for forming solids

A slurry is made including water, at least 50% by weight calcium sulfate hemihydrate, and a specific polycarboxylate dispersant prepared using at least three repeating units. A first repeating unit is a vinyl ether-type repeating unit. A second repeating unit includes a maleic acid-type repeating unit. A third repeating unit includes an acrylic acid-type repeating unit. The polymer dispersant has a molecular weight of from about 20,000 to about 80,000 Daltons. The slurry made from this composition can be made at reduced water levels to speed drying and reduce drying costs.
