A jumper assembly for a DSX system is disclosed herein. The jumper assembly includes a messenger wire for electrically connecting tracer lamp circuits corresponding to two cross-connected DSX modules. The jumper assembly also includes tracer lamp devices carried with the messenger wire.

A jack module system is disclosed. The system includes a housing ( ) defining an interior. The system also includes first and second jacks ( ). Each jack ( ) includes a jack body ( ) including upper and lower edges. Receiving means are disposed within the housing ( ) for slidably receiving the jack bodies ( ) in a first direction and slidably removing the jack bodies ( ) in a direction opposite the first direction. The jacks ( ) are stacked along an axis perpendicular to the first transverse dimension. The system also includes a cover ( ) removably securing the jack bodies ( ).

A switching coax jack module (,) contains two removable jacks (,&prime;). The jack module (,) includes a sheet metal housing (,) with a front wall (,) and a rear wall (,). An interior wall structure (,) within the housing (,) defines two recesses (,&prime;) within the housing (,) recessed from and open through the front wall (,). The interior wall structure (,) carries four sliding coax connectors (,) with two of the four exposed within each of the recesses (,&prime;). Coax cables (,&prime;) contained within the housing connect each of the four sliding coax connectors with individual ones of coax connectors (,&prime;) mounted on the rear wall (,) and exposed to an exterior of the housing (,). Two switching jacks (,&prime;) containing switching components (,) are slidably received within the recesses (,&prime;). Sliding connectors (,) mate with the housing sliding connectors (,&prime;). Ports (,) on the front of the jacks (,&prime;) are exposed through the forward wall (,). Arcuate edges (,) of the jacks are complimentarily shaped to arcuate grooves (,) on the interior wall structure (,) to guide the jacks into the recesses with the jack sliding connectors mating with the housing sliding connectors. The jacks and recesses are symmetrically shaped to permit identically constructed jacks to be inserted into either recess by rotating a jack about its longitudinal axis.

A switching coax jack module (10) contains two removable jacks (14, 14'). The jack module (10) includes a sheet metal housing (12) with a front wall (22) and a rear wall (24). An interior wall structure (20) within the housing (12) defines two recesses (34, 34') within the housing (12) recessed from and open through the front wall (22). The interior wall structure (20) carries four sliding coax connectors (60a, 61a, 60a', 61a') with two of the four exposed within each of the recesses (34, 34'). Coax cables (60b, 61b, 60b', 61b') contained within the housing (12) connect each of the four sliding coax connectors (60a, 61a, 60a', 61a') with individual ones of coax connectors (60, 61, 60', 61') mounted on the rear wall (24) and exposed to an exterior of the housing (12). Two switching jacks (14, 14') containing switching components (125) are slidably received within the recesses (34, 34'). Sliding connectors (112, 113) mate with the housing sliding connectors (60a, 61a, 60a', 61a'). Ports (121, 122, 123) on the front of the jacks (14, 14') are exposed through the forward wall (22). Arcuate edges (104, 106) of the jacks (14, 14') are complimentarily shaped to arcuate grooves (84) on the interior wall structure (20) to guide the jacks (14, 14') into the recesses (34, 34') with the jack sliding connectors (112, 113) mating with the housing sliding connectors (60a, 61a, 60a', 61a'). The jacks (14, 14') and recesses (34, 34') are symmetrically shaped to permit identically constructed jacks (14, 14') to be inserted into either recess (34, 34') by rotating a jack (14, 14') about its longitudinal axis.

A printed circuit board mounted jack includes an electrically conductive housing containing a dielectric support. A center pin is contained within the dielectric support. A plurality of terminating leads extend from the dielectric support. A torroid magnet is contained on the dielectric support and connected to the terminating pins for receiving a coaxial signal and converting the coaxial signal to a twisted pair signal.

A miniature coax jack module includes a grounded conductive housing with coax conductors disposed of within the housing. A dielectric insert maintains the conductors in electrically spaced relation to the housing. The housing has internal surfaces surrounding the conductors to provide coax shielding to the conductors.

A connector for terminating coax cables includes a center pin mounted in a dielectric support. The support has a resilient locking arm which snaps into a recess of the center pin to prevent relative axial movement of the pin and the support.

A jack module assembly includes at least two jack modules carried in a dielectric frame. The frame holds the modules in co-planar alignment. The frame has a width approximate to a width of the modules.

Jack module assembly

A modular digital signal cross-connect assembly is disclosed having housing and a plurality of coax digital signal cross-connect modules. Each of the modules has a frame that is slidably received within the housing. Each frame carries coax DSX circuitry, including a plurality of jacks on a forward wall of the module. Rear walls of the module carry coax connectors which are slidably engageable with coax connectors mounted on the housing. The coax connectors are aligned for the housing and the frame connectors to mate as the frame is slid into the housing to an inserted position. In alternative embodiments, the modules include a monitor switch to permit monitoring of any one of a plurality of circuit path in said modules.

Digital cross connect assembly

An apparatus is disclosed for providing access to plurality of telecommunication lines. The apparatus includes a frame which carries a plurality of normally closed contacts. The telecommunication lines are terminated on the normally closed contacts. A plurality of modules are provided to be releasably attached to the frame with electrical circuit elements on the modules engaging the normally closed contacts to open the contacts and create a new signal path through the module upon insertion of the module into the frame.

A modular jack assembly includes Bantam Jack-type spring assemblies carried in a housing. Coax cables connect the spring assemblies to coax connectors carried on the module.

A high density digital signal cross-connect module is disclosed. A plurality of jacks are carried on the module and disposed with jack sleeves being in generally horizontal aligned positions. The jacks are disposed in a vertical column in side-by-side relation. The orientation of the jacks permits a higher DSX density in the module.

A jack assembly is disclosed including a mount having a plurality of electrical contact members disposed in a predetermined array and a plurality of jacks. The jacks are releasably attachable to the mount. Each of the jacks includes a jack body formed of dielectric material. The body has an interior with a plurality of bores extending through the body in communication with the interior. The bores are sized to receive tip-and-ring plugs of known dimensions. A plurality of electrically conductive spring contacts are disposed within the chambers with first ends thereof presenting electrical contact points disposed in a predetermined array. A circuit board is attached to the body and has circuitry which includes a first and second plurality of circuit contact points. The first plurality of circuit contact points is disposed on the circuit board to make electrical contact with the electrical contact points of the spring contacts when the circuit board is connected to the body. The second plurality of circuit contact points are disposed to make electrical contact with the plurality of exposed electrical contact members of the mount when the jack is attached to the mount. A plurality of wire termination membes are secured to the body and present wire termination ends facing an operator. The circuit board engages contacts of the wire termination members in electrical contact to connect the members to circuitry of the jack.
