Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to localization of one or more radio frequency interference (RFI) emitters. More specifically some embodiments relate to localization of RFI emitters that interfere with Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) receivers by integrating the location estimates of two or more localization techniques. Various embodiments may be used to more accurately estimate an interference source (e.g., an RFI emitter's location) than each localization technique separately.

Hybrid interference localization

Various embodiments of the present technology generally relate to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). More specifically, the embodiments of the present technology relate to a smart antenna module resistant to Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) saturation for dual-frequency GNSS receivers. In some embodiments, a dynamically configured antenna module architecture can be for a dual-band (or multi-frequency) GNSS receiver that can adapt to different RFI conditions by performing corresponding working modes. For example, some embodiments of the smart antenna can measure (e.g., using a power detector) the power of an incoming multi-frequency signal to determine when the multifrequency signal is saturated. Then, using control logic the smart antenna can determine which frequency in the multi-frequency signal is usable and isolate (e.g. using radio frequency components) a frequency that is not saturated. A position estimate can then be generated based on the isolated multi-frequency signal.

Smart antenna module for GNSS receivers

There is provided an apparatus comprising an antenna () configured to receive a signal from a global navigation satellite system, wherein the antenna includes a first feed and a second feed; a hybrid coupler () including a first hybrid input, a second hybrid input, a first hybrid output, a second hybrid output, and wherein the first hybrid output is shifted in phase by 90 degrees relative to the second hybrid output; a variable phase shifter () including a shifter input and a shifter output, hybrid output; and a combiner () including a first combiner input, a second combiner input, and a combiner output, wherein the first combiner input is coupled to the shifter output, and the second combiner input is coupled to the second hybrid output, and wherein the combiner output is provided to detection circuitry ().

Spoofing detection and anti-jam mitigation for GPS antennas

Method and apparatus for reducing radio frequency interference (RFI) using a dual-element patch antenna [The antenna possesses two antenna elements [having distinct radiation patterns. Either element may be independently selected using a DC bias voltage. Diodes [connected to the elements serve to disable one element when the other is selected. In one selected mode, a nominal radiation pattern provides a broad, hemispherical shaped sensitivity that is designed for acquiring and tracking all navigation satellites above the horizon. This nominal radiation pattern, however, is susceptible to interference that is present near or below the horizon. The second selectable radiation pattern of the dual-element antenna has comparatively higher gain toward zenith, and lower gain at and below the horizon to mitigate interference. This combination of features is packaged in a single antenna unit that can be a direct replacement for existing antennas. The dual-element antenna unit has a low vertical profile and is suitable for mounting on high-speed moving vehicles.
