A plug style connector has an outer connector housing with an internal passage which accommodates a cable assembly. A plurality of multi-wire cables extend through a wire organizer that arranges the cables in a preselected arrangement. Exposed free ends of the conductors of the wires are terminated to multiple circuit boards which are separated in a preselected spacing by a spacer member. The spacer member and wire organizer have flat opposing surfaces that define boundaries of a body portion formed by the application of a hot melt to the cables, the hot melt adheres to the wire organizer and the spacer to hold the cable wires and their associated circuit boards in place for correct insertion into the connector housing.

Plug connector with improved construction

A shielded cable connector takes the form of a plug connector that is terminated to a plurality of wires of a cable. The wires are terminated to an edge card and a premold portion is formed thereover. An exterior shielding braid of the cable is extended over the premold and is formed with the connector housing so that a portion of it is exposed on the exterior of the connector housing. This exposed portion contacts an exterior conductive collar that is supported on the connector housing. The sleeve has a plurality of spring contact arms so as to make electrical shielding contact between the cable braid exposed on the connector housing and an exterior metal guide into which the connector is inserted when mating to an opposing connector.

Plug connector with external EMI shielding capability

A small, low-profile plug connector for use with electronic devices provides a latching member with a pair of hooks that engage mating holes in a guide frame, and which can be easily delatched from the guide frame or opposing connector or housing. The hooks lock the plug connector into engagement with the frame or housing, but are readily released by way of a simple ramp and lobe mechanism in the plug connector. The ramp and lobe mechanism converts horizontal movement of a pull tab-like actuator into vertical movement of a latching member such that the hooks are lifted upward and disengaged from the guide frame or housing.

Low profile latching connector

An electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielding cage for an electronic module is comprised an electrically-conductive bottom, an electrically-conductive rear panel electrically coupled to said bottom, an electrically-conductive, elongated cover electrically coupled to said bottom and first and second side walls that are electrically and mechanically coupled to said bottom, said rear panel and said elongated cover. Numerous ground lugs, electrically coupled to at least one of: said bottom; rear panel; and first and second side walls provide an electrical pathway for EMI signals to a reference potential. An electrically-conductive, compressible gasket encircling the bottom, top and side walls provides an electrical connection to a front panel, providing additional EMI suppression. Gasket engagement tabs in the top and bottom provide electrical connection between the gasket and panels.

Shielding cage with improved EMI shielding gasket construction

An improved EMI shield assembly for transceivers is provided in the form of a metal shielding cage that has interengaging cover and base portions. The cover portion has two sidewalls that include leading edges that flare outwardly so that the cover portion sidewalls ride up and over the sidewalls of the base portion. Catches are formed in the base portion sidewalls that have curved surfaces which engage the flared portions to further facilitate the assembly of the shielding cage assembly.

Small form factor connector cage

An adapter frame assembly is provided for receiving at least a pair of connectors in a stacked array with one connector above another connector at different spacings therebetween. The assembly includes at least a pair of frame structures including at least a top frame structure and a bottom frame structure each including a receptacle for receiving a respective one of the stacked connectors. The top frame structure may be mounted directly on top of the bottom frame structure and, thereby, space the receptacles and the respective connectors at a first spacing therebetween. A spacer is selectively mountable between the frame structures to thereby space the receptacles and the respective connectors at a second, increased spacing therebetween.

Adapter frame assembly for electrical connectors

An installation tool for installing multiple connector housings of a wire harness into engagement with opposing connectors includes a handle portion and a connector gripping portion. The handle portion includes openings that accommodate a user's hand and the connector gripping portion includes pairs of first and second engagement arms separated by intervening spaces. Individual connector housings of the wire harness are gripped by pairs of the first and second engagement arms which hold the connectors housings in a preselected alignment and orientation with the connector housings gripped by the engagement arms and with the opposing connectors.

A latching shroud for use on a backplane connector is provided which has an integrated a retention feature. The backplane connector includes a receptacle portion that receives a plurality of mating connectors therein and the latching shroud includes a pair of sidewalls that slip over and engage the connector around the receptacle portion thereof. A plurality of series of latching arms are formed in one of the sidewalls of the latching shroud, while polarizing elements are formed with the other sidewall of the latching shroud. The polarizing elements assist in orienting the mating connectors and the latching arms extend up and partly over the connector receptacle. The latching arms include hook end portions that grip the top surfaces of the mating connectors to retain them in place in the connector receptacle.

Retrofit latching shroud for backplane applications

A metal adapter frame assembly mounts a first electrical connector in an aperture in a panel for mating with a second electrical connector. A metal body defines a first receptacle for receiving the first connector and a second receptacle for receiving the second connector, with the connectors mateable through the body. A metal shield is mounted over a substantial portion of the metal body. A metal gasket is mounted on the body for engaging the panel at the aperture and substantially surrounds the first receptacle. A metal shutter member is movably mounted on the body to close the first receptacle and is movable to an open position upon engagement by the first connector.

An electrical cable management system is disclosed for dressing electrical cables, such as the cables of wiring harnesses, on appropriate support structures, such as within electrical connector cabinets. A cable support member has a hanger for hanging the support member on a support structure. At least one cable tie member embraces a cable and ties the cable to the cable support member.
