Systems and methods for operating a communication device so as to mitigate intermodulation interference to a signal. The methods comprise: continuously monitoring several communication channels by the communication device; using a noise floor level estimate of the communication device to detect when the communication device is under an influence of hig interference; determining an optimal level of attenuation to be applied by a variable attenuator of the communication device's receiver so as to mitigate the influence of intermodulation interference to the signal; and selectively adjusting an amount of attenuation being applied by the variable attenuator to achieve the optimal level of attenuation for mitigating intermodulation interference.

System and method for mitigating broadband interference

Systems and methods for mitigating broadband and/or Intermodulation ('IM') interference. The methods comprise: monitoring performance of at least one demodulator performance metric of a communication device; detecting when the communication device is under or will be under an influence of IM interference based on a performance of the at least one demodulator performance metric; determining an improved level of gain to be applied to (i) a variable attenuator of the communication device or (ii) a variable gain low noise amplifier of the communication device; and selectively adjusting an amount of gain being applied by the variable attenuator or variable gain low noise amplifier based on the improved performance achieved with new level of attenuation.

System and method for optimizing intermodulation performance of receivers

A system is for mapping an interior of a building. The system may include a mobile device having a PDR circuit configured to generate PDR positions as a user moves within the interior of the building, and a ranging circuit configured to generate ranging mapping data of the interior of the building as the user moves within the interior of the building. The system also may include a server configured to map the interior of the building and generate a location of the mobile device within the interior of the building based upon the PDR positions and the ranging mapping data from the mobile device.

A mobile communication device (MCD) in a network uses a land mobile radio (LMR) transceiver to facilitate voice communications through an LMR network to a dispatch center. A broadband cellular network (BCN) wireless modem in communication with the MCD implements a BCN wireless communication protocol for broadband data communications between the MCD and a remote dispatch center. When a BCN access interruption occurs, the MCD will automatically communicate to the remote dispatch center a notification of the BCN access interruption, by using the LMR network, and data otherwise communicated through the BCN is automatically communicated through the LMR network.
