A tape dispenser including a cutting mechanism is disclosed that allows for improved access to the mandrel during reloading. The tape dispenser comprises a base, a cover, and a mandrel disposed within the base and cover. The cover is capable of securely engaging with the base. The base, the cover, and the mandrel are connected along a pivot point. The cover actuates the mandrel to an open, loading position.

The inventive tape dispenser includes a cover and a base. The cover includes a forward section, a saddle, a rounded back section, and first and second sidewalls extending downwardly from the forward section and saddle. The forward section of the cover includes a first end from which a means for cutting extends. The base includes a semicircular tape holding portion having a first side opposite a second side, a mounting surface and an inner surface. The inner surface of the base includes a means for gripping the dispenser. The base also includes an arm, a land area extending at an angle from the arm and an edge extending an angle from the land area. The edge is disposed substantially parallel to and proximate to the second sidewall of the cover.

A W-stacked pads of tape strips dispensable at a low peel angle, comprising a plurality of superimposed tape strips longitudinally reversed so as to align the first end of each tape strip with the second end of an immediately overlaying and an immediately underlying tape strip. The individual tape strips having first and second longitudinal end portions with differential release characteristics, with the second end portion of each tape strip adhered to the first end portion of an adjacent tape strip at an adhesion level having an adhesive strength sufficient to allow release of the second end portion of an intermediate tape strip relative to the first end portion of an immediately underlying tape strip when an immediately overlying tape strip is dispensed from the pad at a low peel angle, while preventing any appreciable longitudinal movement of the second end portion of an intermediate tape strip relative to the first end portion of an immediately underlying tape strip when an immediately overlying tape strip is dispensed from the pad at a high peel angle.

Tape strip pads and dispenser and method of dispensing individual tape strips

A tape strip dispenser defining a retention chamber and having an opening through which the tape strips are dispensed from a W-stacked pad of tape strips retained within the retention chamber. The opening is longitudinally bounded along a first end by a first linear edge, and longitudinally bounded along a second end by a second liner edge, with (i); the first and second linear edges laterally angled relative to a central lateral axis of the retention chamber, and/or (ii) the first and second linear edges independently pivotable about a first and a second lateral axis, respectively.
