An adhesive composition is provided for adhering together roofing materials such as EPDM rubber and thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO). The adhesive composition includes a rubbery polymer comprising a blend of a thermoplastic block copolymer selected from the group consisting styrene-butadiene-styrene, styrene-isoprene-styrene, styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene, styrene-ethylene-propylene-styrene, styrene-ethylene-propylene, ethylene-propylene, and combinations thereof, and a paraffinic hydrocarbon polymer. Roofing articles incorporating the adhesive composition are also provided. The composition is a pressure sensitive adhesive that allows roofing articles to be applied in a peel and stick manner.

Hot melt pressure sensitive adhesive composition for attaching roofing membranes

A heat-resistant, paintable two-sided acrylic-based adhesive tape and method for adhering the tape to two substrates is provided. The tape is comprised of a solid acrylic-based carrier including an acrylic-based adhesive on both sides of the carrier. The carrier preferably includes polymeric microspheres to impart compressibility to the tape. The tape includes a conformable, heat resistant polyolefin-based release liner. In use, the tape is adhered on one side to a first substrate, the liner is removed, and the tape is adhered on the other side to a second substrate. The two substrates with the tape are then exposed to elevated temperatures such as those encountered in an automotive, appliance, or other commercial paint bake process. The tape can withstand temperatures up to 300&#xb0; F. and can be painted without degradation of the adhesive and without a reduction of the adhesive properties of the tape.

A heat-resistant, paintable two-sided acrylic-based adhesive tape and method for adhering the tape to two substrates is provided. The tape is comprised of a solid acrylic-based carrier including an acrylic-based adhesive on both sides of the carrier. Heat-resistant, paintable two-sided acrylic-based adhesive tape and method of applying to substrates

A self-adhesive vibration damping tape for adhering to a substrate is provided. The tape is formed from a vibration damping composition comprising a synthetic rubber polymer, a thermoplastic polymer, a plasticizer, and an organic filler comprised of recycled automotive paint powder. The composition is preferably formed into a tape which includes a release liner on one surface and an aluminum foil facing on the other surface. In use, the tape is adhered on one surface to a substrate such as an automotive or appliance part to provide vibration damping properties as well as seal out the infiltration of air, dust and moisture.

Self-adhesive vibration damping tape and composition

A conformable, heat-resistant, paintable acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive tape and method for adhering the tape to a substrate is provided. The tape is comprised of a solid acrylic-based carrier including an acrylic-based adhesive on both sides of the carrier, and a conformable, heat-resistant liner adhered to at least one side of the adhesive. In use, the tape is adhered on at least one side to a substrate, painted, and then exposed to elevated temperatures such as those encountered in an automotive, appliance, or other commercial paint bake process. The conformable tape can withstand temperatures up to 300&deg; F. and can be painted without degradation of the adhesive or liner and without a reduction of the adhesive properties of the tape.

Conformable, heat-resistant, paintable acrylic-based adhesive tape and method of applying to a substrate

An adhesive composition is provided for adhering together roofing materials such as EPDM rubber and thermoplastic polyolefin (TPO). The adhesive composition includes a rubbery polymer comprising a blend of a thermoplastic block copolymer selected from the group consisting of a styrene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer, a styrene-isoprene-styrene block copolymer, a styrene-ethylene/butylene-styrene block copolymer, a styrene-ethylene/propylene block copolymer and an ethylene-propylene block copolymer and combinations thereof and a polyisobutylene. Roofing articles incorporating the adhesive composition are also provided. The composition is a pressure sensitive adhesive that allows roofing articles to be applied in a peel and stick manner.

A lap edge sealant composition is provided for adhering together overlapping sheets of roofing material which includes a rubbery polymer such as EPDM, a thermoplastic rubber, a tackifier, and a solvent, where the solvent is selected from aliphatic hydrocarbons, para-chlorobenzotrifluoride, or blends thereof. The lap edge sealant has a high solids content of about 65 to 90%, a volatile organic compound (VOC) content of less than about 250 g/l, and exhibits no more than about 35% shrinkage upon curing.

A cured adhesive tape composition for adhering together roofing materials such as synthetic EPDM rubber and which provides long term water tightness is provided. The adhesive composition includes a) a rubbery polymer comprising a blend of (i) from about 12% or less by weight of the total composition of an ethylene-propylene-diene terpolymer, (ii) a halogenated butyl rubber or a halogenated copolymer of p-methylstyrene and isobutylene, (iii) polyisobutylene, and (iv) a butyl terpolymer, and b) a compatible tackifier, and c) an accelerator/cure package for the rubbery polymer. The cured composition exhibits a peel strength of at least 1000 grams/cm at room temperature, at least 500 grams/cm at 70&deg; C., and supports a static load of at least 300 grams at 70&deg; C.

Adhesive composition for providing water-tight joints in single-ply roofing membranes

A multi-component adhesive system for adhering polar surfaces to non-polar surfaces comprising: (a) a non-polar adhesive layer for bonding to a non-polar surface; and (b) polar adhesive layer bonded to said non-polar adhesive layer for bonding to a polar surface.

Adhesive system

There is provided an adhesive system comprised of a pressure-sensitive adhesive matrix having dispersed. therein organic particulate solids having a particle size no greater than 300 microns, and generally no greater than 225 microns, which matrix may have at least one, and generally two, sides coated with an unfilled pressure-sensitive adhesive material, which adhesive materials generally may be acrylic materials. Such adhesive system is one generally provided as a sheet, including elongated tapes, having a thickness of from about 25 to 60 mils.

Pressure-sensitive adhesive systems with filler

A fortified pressure sensitive adhesive is comprised of a polymerization product of, or a polymeric composition derived from a formulation comprising at least one non-tertiary acrylic acid alkyl ester formed from a primary or secondary alcohol, an organofunctional silane, wherein said organofunctional silane is present in said formulation in an amount sufficient to increase the adhesive characteristics of the pressure sensitive adhesive, and an ethylenically-unsaturated dimer, wherein the ethylenically-unsaturated dimer is present in the formulation in an amount sufficient to increase the adhesive characteristics of the pressure sensitive adhesive.

Fortified pressure sensitive adhesive

A solvent-based adhesive composition for adhering together roofing materials, such as synthetic EPDM rubber sheets, which provides long term storage stability is provided. The adhesive composition includes a halogenated copolymer of isobutylene and p-methyl styrene, a thermoplastic rubber comprising a styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer, an endblock resin for the thermoplastic rubber, a tackifier, an accelerator/cure package, and a solvent. The cured composition exhibits a peel strength of at least 3.0 pounds per lineal inch at room temperature, at least 3.0 pounds per lineal inch at 212.degree. F., supports a static load of at least 0.67 pounds at 158.degree. F. for a minimum of 24 hours, and exhibits a viscosity increase of less than 1500 centipoise after aging at 130.degree. F. for six weeks.

Solvent-based adhesive composition for roofing membranes

A pressure sensitive adhesive is prepared by the polymerization of an appropriate acrylic ester formulation of the type that includes an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a polar group, and at least part of such polymerization is accomplished by photopolymerization using a source of ultraviolet radiation that provides a substantial portion of its ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength band of from about 280 to about 350 nm and a light intensity at the surface of the formulation being polymerized of no more than about 4.0 milliwatts/cm.sup.2.

A pressure sensitive adhesive is prepared by the polymerization of an appropriate acrylic ester formulation of the type that includes an ethylenically unsaturated monomer having a polar group, and at least part of such polymerization is accomplished by photopolymerization using a source of ultraviolet radiation that provides a substantial portion of its ultraviolet radiation in the wavelength band of from about 280 to about 350 nm and a light intensity at the surface of the formuation being polymerized of no more than about 4.0 milliwatts/cm.sup.2.
