A door module assembly for a motor vehicle door has a plate-like carrier holding a plurality of door hardware components in a pre-configured orientation, including one or more window regulator rails. The carrier seals the motor vehicle door and includes a flap that provides at least partial access to the window regulator rails. A first trim panel is pre-fixed to the carrier. A second trim panel articulates with respect to the first trim panel between an initial position generally parallel to the first trim panel and an installed position generally in-line with the first trim panel. With the carrier storing substantially all of the hardware required for the door and the trim panels covering substantially the entire surface area of the door, handling and assembly operations are minimized.

Trim door hardware carrier and methods of assembling vehicle door

A handle assembly selectively releases a door latch () of a door. The handle assembly has a housing () and an actuator such as a key cylinder () secured to the housing. The key cylinder () has a bell crank () rotatable relative to the housing between a neutral position to a locking position upon rotation in a locking sense and between a neutral position and an unlocking position upon rotation in an unlocking sense, opposite the locking sense. A handle () is pivotally mounted to the housing. A pull lever () is pivotally mounted to the housing and connects to the door latch (). A link () has one end () pivotally connected to the pull lever () and an opposite end () slidingly connected to the bell crank (). The pull lever () slidingly engages the handle () between a lock position wherein the pull lever () slides relative to the handle () and an unlocked position wherein the pull lever () is coupled to the handle () and handle movement is translated to the pull lever.

A stun glove for directing an electric shock to an assailant includes a power source, an insulator shaped to receive a hand, having a back corresponding to a back side of the hand and a front corresponding to a front side of the hand, a first terminal spaced apart from a second terminal, with both terminals positioned on the back of the insulator and extending generally perpendicular from the back, and a stun contact positioned on the back of the insulator and extending generally perpendicular from the back, and having an open position and a closed position, wherein in the closed position the power source is in electrical communication with the terminals, allowing a spark to jump between the terminals. A warning contact may optionally be provided which could be actuated to produce a warning spark across the terminals.

Stun glove

A heated sliding window assembly comprising a fixed portion comprising a circumferential frame and a fixed pane attached to the circumferential frame, with the fixed pane having an electrically conductive heating grid. A sliding pane is slidable within the circumferential frame between an open position and a closed position, and the sliding pane has an electrically conductive heating grid. A first conductive element is mounted on the fixed portion and a second conductive element is mounted on the sliding pane. The first and second conductive elements are routed through a latch assembly, and are electrically connected together when the sliding pane is in the closed position. To connect the heating grid of the sliding pane to the heating grid of a second fixed pane, third and fourth conductive elements are employed, either routed through the same latch assembly as the above mentioned first and second conductive elements or mounted at an end of the sliding pane remote from the latch assembly. The conductive elements may make wiping contact with one another to enhance electrical contact. In certain preferred embodiments the latch assembly has a cam which pivots as a latch lever is pivoted to an unlatching position, urging the conductive elements out of electrical contact.

Heated sliding window assembly with an electrically connected sliding

A modular window assembly has a glazing pane, typically a slider assembly incorporating a vertically mounted transparent pane, which is slidably mounted in a rear-mounted frame. The slider pane is mounted for moving laterally back and forth between a closed and an open position. A drive subassembly comprises a drive drum and handle remotely mounted in the passenger compartment for moving the sliding pane back and forth between the open and closed positions. An anti-backdrive subassembly is connected to the drive drum and the handle to substantially prevent opening or closing of the slider pane by forces other than operation of the handle. The drive subassembly further comprises a mechanism for operatively connecting the handle to the sliding pane, for example, a drive cable mounted in the roof above a roof liner. When the handle is rotated in either direction, the drive drum wraps and unwraps corresponding segments of the drive cable, pulling the sliding pane between its open and closed position. When a force is exerted directly on the sliding pane, the anti-backdrive device substantially prevents rotation of the drive drum and correspondingly, movement of the sliding pane.

Remote manual anti-backdrive system for modular rear-mounted window

A self-aligning window regulator for raising and lowering a windowpane in a motor vehicle door, having a mounting assembly fixed to the door comprising at least a mounting bracket, and a self-aligning assembly slidably attached to the mounting assembly at the mounting bracket. In certain preferred embodiments the self-aligning assembly includes a rail, a glider slidable over the rail, and attachment for connecting the glider to the windowpane. Connection element positioned between the rail and the mounting bracket allows the rail and the rest of the self-aligning assembly to float relative the mounting bracket. Preferably the connection element comprises a rivet extending from either the mounting bracket or the rail into a slot. The rivet can slide relative the slot and allow the self-aligning assembly to move relative the mounting bracket to accommodate stack-up tolerances or misalignments of the regulator componentry. To reduce potential rattle between the rivet and the slot, an elastomeric grommet may be positioned around the rivet. To reduce potential rattle between the mounting bracket and the rail, biasing members such as cup washers may be used, urging these components of the window regulator out of contact with one another.

Self aligning window regulator

A rear-mounted modular sliding window assembly in a motor vehicle has a glazing pane, typically a slider subassembly incorporating a vertically mounted transparent pane, which is slidably mounted in a circumferential frame. The slider pane is mounted for sliding laterally back and forth between an open position and a closed position. A drive subassembly comprises a hand-operable drive unit for moving the sliding pane back and forth between the open and closed positions, having a drive drum and a handle secured to the drive drum and mounted remotely in the vehicle passenger compartment. The drive subassembly further comprises a mechanism for operatively connecting the handle to the sliding pane, for example, a drive cable mounted in the roof above a roof liner.

Remote manual drive system for modular rear-mounted window assembly

A motor vehicle window construction has a pull-pull closed loop cable drive system for opening and closing a glazing pane slidably mounted in a frame. A motor and drive drum apparatus for powered operation of the window construction is mounted to the vehicle body at a location remote from the frame. The cable system includes drive cable wrapped around the drive drum. A first drive cable segment extends laterally from the glazing pane or from a slidably mounted subassembly incorporating the glazing pane, toward one side of the frame member. A second drive cable segment extends from the glazing pane or subassembly toward the opposite side of the frame. The glazing pane and drive cable together form a closed loop from the drive drum. Rotating of the drive drum in a first rotational direction by actuation of the drive motor pulls the slidably mounted transparent pane toward its open position. Rotating the drive drum in the opposite rotational direction pulls the glazing pane toward its closed position. A method also is provided for retrofitting a manual-slide window construction preinstalled in a motor vehicle body to be a powered slide window as just described. A retrofitting kit is provided for carrying out such retrofitting method.

Motor vehicle window construction with pull-pull cable system

A window assembly for a motor vehicle body enclosing a passenger compartment has a structural frame mounting a sliding pane. Guide means are provided for guiding the sliding pane as it slides between its open and closed positions. The guide means includes kick-out means for forcibly guiding the sliding pane toward an offset, substantially parallel plane upon initial movement of the sliding pane from its closed position toward its open position. Such initial offset facilitates mounting of the sliding pane in its closed position in a plane substantially flush with an adjacent fixed position pane or other object of the window assembly of the vehicle body. Pull/pull type drive means are provided for operating the sliding pane. Specifically, a cable-and-drum drive mechanism of the window assembly includes a drive cable wrapped around a drive drum and attached to the sliding pane. The sliding pane is pulled open by rotation of the drive drum in a first rotational direction and is pulled closed by reverse rotation of the drive drum. The drive drum is rotatable mounted in a recess in the frame of the window assembly and at least a portion of the drive cable extends from the sliding pane to the drive drum in a cable channel within the frame.

Cable drive assembly for a window

A flush-closing multi-pane window assembly for a motor vehicle is provided, comprising a frame for mounting in a window recess in the vehicle body, one or more fixed-position panes mounted to the frame and at least one sliding pane mounted to the frame for sliding between an open position and a closed position. In its open position, the sliding pane overlaps a fixed-position pane, but in its closed position is substantially flush therewith. Guide means are provided for guiding the sliding pane as it moves laterally between its open and closed position. The guide means includes fixed members extending from the sliding panes substantially perpendicular to its direction of travel and kick-out means provided by the frame for engaging the fixed members at least during initial lateral movement of the sliding pane from its closed position to its open position. The kick-out means engages the fixed members to force the sliding pane from the plane flush with that of the fixed-position pane to the offset parallel plane substantially simultaneously with such initial lateral movement of the sliding pane from its closed position.
