A torque resistant casing scraper for attachment to a drillstring is comprised of a one piece tool body having rotationally unrestrained two-piece blade carriers with hardened diamond-shaped cutting blades and rotationally unrestrained two-piece axial centralizers. Adjoining blade carriers and centralizers rotate independently of the drillstring and the blade carriers interlocked to prevent relative rotation between the blade carriers and to index, or orient the cutting blades as desired along the longitudinal axis of the casing scraper. The diamond-shaped cutting blades and the indexed blade carriers allow both right-handed and left-handed drillstring rotation without reducing utility or effectiveness of the scraper. The casing scraper is particularly effective for deep, near-horizontal wellbores.

A back-up ring for use in a liner top test tool for testing casing integrity in a wellbore is disclosed. The back-up ring is comprised of first and second ring elements that are biased apart by a compression springs. The first ring element has a plurality of radially extending flanges that cover a plurality of channels in the second ring element when the back-up ring is compressed against a seal element on the liner top test tool to seal the wellbore casing.

An autonomous junk collecting sleeve for a riser is provided. The sleeve is constructed and arranged to be independently lowered and seated above a subsea tree section and, subsequently, raised and removed independent of the work string. The autonomous junk collecting sleeve includes a first cylindrical structure, a second cylindrical structure concentric to the first cylindrical structure and which are joined together in spatial relation at a bottom end to form an interior J-channel basket. The J-channel basket is operable to collect debris traveling up through the bottom end and over of the second cylindrical structure for deposit therein.

Autonomous junk collecting sleeve for a riser

A downhole circulating tool including a sleeve with a cam slot having continuous and symmetrical wishbone patterns through which a cam pin moves. The cam pin moves simultaneously through symmetrical portions of the cam slot to alternate the opening and closing of first and second fluid port openings. A first port opening is operable to communicate fluid to a drill bit when open. A second port opening is operable to communicate fluid directly into the borehole or casing wall of a wellbore when open.

Downhole circulating tool and method of use

An autonomous magnetic sleeve for a riser is provided. The sleeve is constructed and arranged to be independently lowered and seated above a subsea tree section. The autonomous magnetic sleeve includes a cylindrical structure having an inner diameter larger than a diameter of the wellbore and is seated on a riser seat when deployed. The cylindrical structure has affixed thereto a plurality of magnetic assemblies space circumferentially around an interior surface of the cylindrical structure.

A magnetic wellbore cleaning tool having a plurality of magnetic ridges spaced longitudinally between top and bottom centralizers. In operation, the magnetic ridges modify the velocity of passing fluid circulating in the wellbore such that the fluid remains in close proximity to the tool's magnetic field thereby allowing for collection of ferromagnetic debris suspended in cleaning fluid circulating in a wellbore.

A modular junk basket device adapted for use in a wellbore. The modular junk basket has a central mandrel. The device further comprises a removable junk basket operable to collect debris from the wellbore. The device also includes a removable baffle operable to deflect fluid and debris flowing around the junk basket. The central mandrel has a top end, a bottom end and a first mandrel coupler operable to removably couple the junk basket concentrically around the central mandrel a distance above the bottom end. The central mandrel also includes a second mandrel coupler operable to removably couple the baffle a predetermined distance above a top opening in the junk basket and below the top end.

A wellbore cleaning tool having a plurality of fluid jets arranged on one side of a tool body and brushes or other implements for applying an abrasion force arranged on a second side of the tool body. In operation, the fluid jets, when turned on, bias the tool body and the supported brushes toward the casing wall with a resilient jet-biasing effect. Furthermore, the tool body is intended to be rotated. Thereby, the resilient jet-biasing effect rotates accordingly so that the brushes remain biased toward the casing wall during rotation.

A movable armengages a flexible lineat a well site for positioning the flexible line between run-in position for passing the flexible line with a tubular through a well hole in the rig floor and a clamping position wherein the flexible line is adjacent the tubular above the rig floor for clamping the line to the tubular. The armextends upward from the rig floor, and includes a line guide, such as roller, for engaging the flexible line when in the run-in position. A powered drivemoves the arm between the run-in position and the clamping position. A spacermay be used for positioning two or more flexible lines at a desired spacing relative to one another prior to positioning the lines within a clamp secured to the tubular. A slip bowl assemblymay be laterally movable so that slips do not engage the flexible line as it is run in the well.

Junk basketis provided for collecting debris from a wellbore cleaning operation, and includes a central mandrelhaving a throughboreand an outer shelldefining a generally annular junk space. The outer shellmay be configured such that the annulusincludes a reduced portion. Flow holesin the outer shell are preferably angled substantially upward, and are positioned to discharge fluid to the annulus. According to a method of the invention, fluid is passed from an upper tubing string, through the central mandrel, into the wellbore and upward through the annulus and past the flow holes, thereby reducing pressure of flow past the well holes to pass fluid from the junk space through the flow holes.

A power tong for making up and breaking apart threaded oilfield tubular connections includes a frame having an open throat , a rotary ring having an open throat , and a door for closing over the open throat for safety. Hydraulic motor is regulated by a control valve for rotating the ring which in turn rotates the oilfield tubular. A switch responsive to the position of the door controls the flow of air pressure to a cylinder , which renders active valve operator which controls valve . According to the method of the invention, the door must first be closed so that the switch renders the valve operator active, and the valve operator must be reset once the door is opened before it can be manipulated to operate the motor control valve

Power tong with shutdown system and method

A power tong 10 for making up and breaking apart threaded oilfield tubular connections includes a frame 11 having an open throat 20, a rotary ring 16 having an open throat 22, and a door 24 for closing over the open throat for safety. Hydraulic motor 42 is regulated by a control valve 52 for rotating the ring 16 which in turn rotates the oilfield tubular. A switch 46 responsive to the position of the door 24 controls the flow of air pressure to a cylinder 50, which renders active valve operator 54 which controls valve 52. According to the method of the invention, the door 24 must first be closed so that the switch 46 renders the valve operator 52 active, and the valve operator 52 must be reset once the door is opened before it can be manipulated to operate the motor control valve 52.

The backup tong 10, 110 includes a fluid powered cylinder assembly 72, 172. A wedge 80, 180 is provided at the end of a cylinder rod 76, 176 and forces multiple dies into gripping engagement with the tubular. A pair of links 30, 32 or 130, 132 are driven laterally outward from the centerline 28, 128 of the tong body by the wedge 80, 180, thereby forcing the dies to bite the tubular. The design of the tong is relatively simple and has few moving parts, yet is highly rugged and dependable. Dies 62, 64 and 66 or 162, 164 and 166 may together provide circumferential engagement of at least 270.degree. with a tubular, thereby reliably gripping and minimizing damage to the tubular. The tong 10 includes a door jaw latch pin 58, and is particularly well suited for use on dual tubing strings where there is little axial spacing between the tubing strings.
