A method of operating a mobile fluoroscopic imaging system includes positioning an x-ray source and a DR detector about a patient. Data defining a spatial configuration of the x-ray source and the collimator is stored in the system. The system is configured to determine a source-to-image distance of the x-ray source and the DR detector including by activating the x-ray source and capturing a scout image in the DR detector. Dimensions of the scout image are calculated and the source-to-image distance is determined based on the data defining the spatial configuration of the x-ray source and the collimator and on the dimensions of the scout image.

Bedside dynamic imaging

A boom has an x-ray head attached to one end thereof and the x-ray head has an x-ray source disposed therein. In a docked position of the boom, the x-ray source is disabled. In a deployed position, the x-ray source is enabled. A handle attached to the x-ray head is movable into at least two different positions. A first one of the positions disables the x-ray source while a second one of the positions enables the x-ray source. The handle extends a preselected distance from the x-ray source such that the handle maintains at least the preselected distance between the x-ray source and a subject to be exposed thereby.

Deployable guard for mobile x-ray system

A radiographic imaging apparatus having a detector, a radiation source array, and a control processor is configurable to individually energize the radiation sources. A collimator having a number of apertures is movable to either a first or second position in a path of the radiation source array. In one position, the apertures are aligned with a first subset of the radiation sources. In another position, the apertures are aligned with a second subset of the radiation sources. The second subset of the radiation sources define substantially the same radiation field that is defined by the first subset of the radiation sources. A transport apparatus translates the collimator member between at least the first and second positions according to an electronic instruction.

A mobile radiography apparatus has a moveable (e.g., wheeled) transport frame and an adjustable support mounted at the frame that can include an x-ray source. Embodiments of methods and/or apparatus by which mobile radiography carts can provide a charging capability for at least one radiographic detector (e.g., removed power source, detector either separately mounted at the mobile radiography apparatus or in a detector carrier (e.g., grid holder)) mounted at the mobile radiography apparatus.

A grid assembly for use with an imaging cassette. The grid assembly includes an anti-scatter grid having a length and opposing first and second ends; first and second transport members disposed proximate the first and second ends, respectively, of the grid; at least one first roller disposed at the first end of the grid; at least one second roller disposed at the second end of the grid; and a pair of support members disposed substantially perpendicular to the length and proximate the opposing ends of the grid in spaced relationship to form a slot having an opening proximate one side of the grid adapted to removably slidably receive the imaging cassette adjacent the grid.

A grid assembly for use with an imaging cassette, for example, a computed radiography cassette, particularly an elongated radiography cassette. The grid assembly includes: an anti-scatter grid; a radiographically translucent enclosure housing the anti-scatter grid and having two ends; a transport member disposed proximate a first end of the enclosure; at least one roller disposed proximate a second end of the enclosure; and a receiving member attached to the enclosure and adapted to removably receive and secure the imaging cassette.

Apparatus for processing exposed photosensitive elements comprising: a cylindrical container having an open end and having a plurality of circumferentially disposed containment vessels for containing processing fluids; an index plate which is rotatably mounted on the container at the open end; a holder for holding an exposed photosensitive element; support structure for mounting the holder on the index plate for movement downwardly and upwardly; and a member on the index plate for manually rotating the plate to sequentially align the holder with the plurality of containment vessels so that at each vessel the holder is manually moved downwardly to submerge the photosensitive element in the processing fluid contained in the vessel and then moved upwardly to remove the element from the fluid.

A x-ray fill cassette for use with radiographic film. The cassette has a tube side unit and a cover unit. The units together define a film space for the film. The units are relatively pivotable between an open state and a closed state. The tube side unit is substantially convex in at least one of length and width dimensions when the traits are in the open state. The tube side unit is substantially flat in both length and width dimensions when the film is in the film space and the units are in the closed state. The tube side unit includes a compressible pad that adjoins the fill space. The cover unit includes a cover panel, a pressure panel, and an intensifying screen. The cover panel and the pressure panel are rigidly mounted in spaced parallel relation. The intensifying screen is adhered directly to the pressure panel adjoining the film space. The convexity of the tube side unit and the compressible pad are selected to impose on the film, when the film is in the closed state, a substantially uniform compressive force of from about 0.09 psi to about 0.35 psi.

Intensifying x-ray film cassette

This invention relates to a novel cartridge-needle unit having a retractable needle for use with disposable or reusable holders to form safety syringes. The cartridge-needle unit comprises a cartridge comprising a hollow body, a septum at the distal end of the body, means for retaining the septum, and a plunger, axially and reciprocally slidable through the interior of the body; a needle capable of being withdrawn within the cartridge; a hub comprising a sleeve adapted to be snapped on the distal end of the cartridge; means for retaining the needle within the hub during an injection; and means for releasing the needle from the hub after the injection comprising an element capable of passing through the septum. The retractable cartridge-needle unit exhibits improved reliability, reduces the tendency for body fluids and/or medication to remain in an unprotected area upon retraction of the needle and virtually eliminates the possibility that the needle can be released into the patient.

A toner image fixing apparatus includes first and second fixing members, at least the first member including a rotatable roller. The rotatable roller includes a bearing support that has a shaft eccentrically positioned and fixed in it. The bearing support supports rotation of the roller about a primary axis of rotation, while the shaft is rotatable around a secondary axis of rotation displaced from the primary axis of rotation. The rotation of the shaft changes the position of the primary axis of rotation with respect to a pair of shaft support arms to move the roller away from the second fixing member to relieve the pressure between the fixing members.

Apparatus for fixing a toner image including eccentrically mounted

Receiving sheet jams in a toner image fuser are cleared by raising an upper frame of an image-forming apparatus. A pressure roller in the fuser is fixed to the upper frame and separates from a fusing roller when the upper frame is raised. Inner and outer guides providing a slot for the receiving sheet leading away from the fuser to an output hopper are mounted to separate when the upper frame is raised, permitting clearance of paper stuck between the guides. The outer guide is prevented from following the inner guide as the upper frame is raised, but instead stops at a position covering the fusing roller to prevent touching of a hot fusing roller by the operator while the operator is clearing a jam.
