A centralizing device is configured to centralize/decentralize an associated tool in a well. The centralizing device includes a body that extends along a longitudinal axis X, the body having a bore that extends from one end to another end of the body; a first piston shaped as a cylinder and provided around a central portion of the body; a second piston shaped as a cylinder and provided around the central portion of the body; a bridge provided around the central portion of the body, between the first and second pistons; and a pair of arms, each arm being attached with one end to a corresponding one of the first and second pistons and with another end to each other. The second piston, the bridge, and the central portion of the body define a sealed chamber, which is sealed from the ambient.

Hydraulically powered centralizer device for borehole and method

A non-explosive punch system for making perforations in a casing includes a housing and one or more punch elements configured to extend through a wall of the housing to perforate a casing of the well. An actuating device is located within the housing and may comprise a piston and an actuator block configured to actuate the one or more punch elements. An energy supply device is also located within the housing and may comprise a valve to direct fluid flow and a piston configured to use a pressure of a well fluid present in the casing, to actuate the actuating device. No explosive material is present in the punch system.

A time delay apparatus for use with a downhole tool in a wellbore casing. In an exemplary embodiment, the apparatus includes an electronic circuit comprising a timer, a fusible link, a split spool device that includes a center pin held in place in a restrained position with a spool and a spring element surrounding the spool. A pressure applied to a trigger device, such as a rupture disk, activates a pressure switch and starts a timer, configured with a preset countdown time, in the electronic circuit. On expiration of the timer, the timer block of the electronic circuit generates a signal to cause breaking of the fusible link and releasing of the spring element such that the center pin of the split spool travels to a functional position and activates the downhole tool.

Electronic time delay apparatus and method

A perforating gun system having gun sections coupled together with adapters. Each of the gun sections are adjustable to be offset relative to one another and each gun section is also decentralized with respect to the inside diameter of the wellbore casing. Each of the gun sections are movable in succession to an interval in the wellbore casing to create perforations such that the percentage of the casing openings is large for substantial fluid flow. The alignment and diameters of the gun sections are chosen to occupy the entire inner diameter of the casing.
