An air gap fitting and method for fluid flow coupling an appliance waste water discharge outlet to a sewer stand pipe inlet. A bell-shaped hood has a side wall skirt tapering downwardly divergently to a skirt lower edge outlet dimensioned to telescopically receive the open upper inlet end of a sewer stand pipe until it abuts a 360&#xb0; internal slip-stop skirt shoulder. A single hood air vent exterior opening extends axially of the skirt approximately two inches. An interior central drain tube extends downwardly and terminates flush with the hood air vent opening lower edge. A tube air vent gap slot is oriented 180&#xb0; out of alignment with the hood exterior air vent. A hexagonal protrusion on the hood upper end receives a wrench to rotate or hold the fitting, and accommodates forming a &#xbd;&#x2033; or &#xbe;&#x2033; I.D. female threaded hood inlet.

Drain line adapter air gap fitting

A dual inlet air gap fixture having an air gap body with first and second interior inlet conduits for receiving wastewater flow respectively from first and second identical or diverse sources of wastewater. The body has an interior outlet conduit opposite the inlet conduits for discharging wastewater emptying from either or both of the inlet conduits. A removable water reversal cap and partition module is received within the upper portion of the air gap body and provides venting communication between atmosphere and the outlet conduit, and redirects the wastewater from the inlet conduits into the outlet conduit. The inlet conduits are arrayed side-by-side on one side of the body interior space and the outlet conduit occupies the remaining interior space on the other side of space opposite from the two inlet conduits.

Air gap apparatus

Reject waste water adapter coupling fitting, for use with a household undercounter reverse osmosis (R/O) water filtration installation associated with an in-counter sink with its outlet connected by standard slip fit S/J plumbing fittings to a sink drain trap plumbed to the household sewer system. The R/O reject waste water drain line is coupled into the sink drain trap by various improved adapter coupling embodiments: e.g., a ball-and-cage type back check valve in the adapter; a modified S/J branch tail piece having a special adapter fitting that is permanently joined to the inlet of the branch stem tube of the tail piece; and a standard disposal Ell with a waste water drain inlet protuberance integrally molded at the outside corner of the junction of a quarter-turn curved elbow portion with a straight sleeve portion of the Ell.

Reject water drain line installation system and apparatus for under sink reverse osmosis filter system

Reject waste water adapter coupling fitting, system and installation method for use with a household undercounter reverse osmosis (R/O) water filtration installation associated with an in-counter sink having a garbage disposer with its outlet connected by standard slip fit plumbing fittings to a sink drain trap plumbed to the household sewer system. The R/O reject waste water undercounter drain line is coupled into the sink drain trap in parallel drainage relation with the disposer outlet plumbing fittings by a baffle Tee plumbing fitting having first and second inlets perpendicular to one another with their input drainage liquid flow separated by an internal baffle. The garbage disposer outlet is coupled by a standard slip fit single inlet/outlet conduit plumbing fitting to the baffle Tee first inlet. The baffle Tee has a single outlet slip coupled to the inlet of the trap. An R/O drain elbow adapter coupling has its inlet connected to the waste water drain line and its outlet coupled via plumbing fitting coupling structure to the Tee second inlet, and end closure structure is operably associated with the elbow coupling and sealably closes a normally open inlet of the drain fitting coupling structure.

Reject water drain line installation system and apparatus for under sink

Reject waste water adapter coupling fitting, system and installation method for use with a household undercounter reverse osmosis (R/O) water filtration installation associated with an in-counter sink having a garbage disposer with its outlet connected by standard slip fit plumbing fittings to a sink drain trap plumbed to the household sewer system. The R/O reject waste water undercounter drain line is coupled into the sink drain trap in parallel drainage relation with the disposer outlet plumbing fittings by a baffle Tee plumbing fitting having first and second inlets perpendicular to one another with their input drainage liquid flow separated by an internal baffle. The garbage disposer outlet is coupled by a standard slip fit single inlet/outlet conduit plumbing fitting to the baffle Tee first inlet. The baffle tee has a single outlet slip coupled to the inlet of the trap. An R/O drain elbow adapter coupling has its inlet connected to the waste water drain line and its outlet coupled via plumbing fitting coupling structure to the Tee second inlet, and end closure structure is operably associated with the elbow coupling and sealably closes a normally open inlet of the drain fitting coupling structure. In one embodiment the end closure structure is directly attached to the baffle Tee second inlet and has a circular disc with a through-opening threadably receiving the elbow outlet, a standard washer seated on the baffle Tee second inlet, the disc being seated on the washer, and a slip joint nut threadably received on the baffle Tee second inlet and clamping the disc and washer sealably thereagainst. For an installation with a second non-disposer in-counter sink mounted adjacent the disposer sink, a series of S/J standard plumbing fittings connect the second sink drain outlet to the baffle Tee second inlet. A three-way Tee has its coaxial inlet and outlet ends serially slip coupled into the fittings and the end closure structure and associated elbow outlet are attached to a side T-inlet of the three-way Tee. Improved installation methods, various improved waste water drainage systems and various improved adapter coupling embodiments are also disclosed for commercial as well as household undercounter use.

Refect water drain line installation system and apparatus for under sink

A method, system and adapter couplings for draining the reject bypassed waste water from a reverse osmosis (R/O) filtration unit to a sewer line, and particularly adapted for use in a household or commercial undercounter R/O water filtration installation associated with an in-counter sink having a garbage disposer with its outlet connected by standard plumbing fittings to a sink drain trap in turn plumb to the sewer system. The R/O waste water drain line tube is coupled into the sink drain trap in serial drainage relation with the disposer outlet plumbing fittings by a special convertable Y-Tee plumbing fitting having an R/O drain tube inlet branch and a dishwasher drain hose inlet branch oriented at an acute angle to one another with their respective input drainage liquid flows converging at a common hose nipple outlet of the Y-Tee. The garbage disposer dishwasher drain water inlet nipple is coupled by a standard coupling hose and hose clamps to the Y-Tee outlet. The Y-Tee has a push-in type connector in its R/O inlet branch connected to the R/O waste water drain tube outlet. For an installation when no dishwasher is present the R/O branch inlet of the adapter coupling is severed therefrom and thereby becomes a straight-in coupling fitting for hose and hose clamp coupling thereof to the disposer inlet nipple.

A household under-counter reverse osmosis (R/O) water filtration installation wherein the R/O reject waste water under-counter drain line is coupled into a sink drain trap in parallel drainage relation with a garbage disposer sink by a baffle Tee plumbing fitting having first and second normally open inlets perpendicular to one another. The garbage disposer outlet is coupled by a standard slip fit single inlet/outlet fitting to the baffle Tee first inlet. The baffle tee has a single outlet slip coupled to the inlet of the trap. An R/O drain adapter elbow of the invention has its inlet connected to the waste water drain line tube and its outlet coupled to the Tee second inlet. The adapter provides an end closure structure which, with the elbow, sealably closes the second inlet of the Tee. In one form the adapter end closure structure is directly attached to the baffle Tee second inlet and comprises a circular wall with a through-opening including the elbow outlet, a standard ring seal or washer seated on the baffle Tee second inlet and a slip joint nut threadably received on the baffle Tee second inlet and clamping the closure wall periphery and washer sealably together. In another form a series of S/J standard plumbing fittings may connect a non-disposer sink drain outlet of a single sink installation directly to the trap. A three-way Tee has its coaxial inlet and outlet ends serially slip coupled into these fittings and the R/O drain adapter end closure structure and associated elbow outlet are attached to a side T-inlet of the three-way Tee.
