Software that generates a message containing operations for multiple layers in a multi-layer environment, by performing the following operations: (i) receiving an operation to perform across a multilayer computing environment; (ii) generating a message for performing the operation across the multilayer computing environment, wherein the message includes a plurality of layer portions that include sub-operation(s) of the operation, wherein each layer portion corresponds to a respective layer in the multilayer computing environment; and (iii) orchestrating performance of the operation by sending the message between layers in the multilayer computing environment according to a sequence for performing sub-operation(s) indicated in the message, wherein when the message is located at a respective layer, the layer performs a respective set of sub-operation(s) according to the respectively corresponding layer portion for the layer in the message.

Orchestrating resources in a multilayer computing environment by sending an orchestration message between layers

In an approach for adjusting an order of actions to process a request, a processor receives a request that includes a set of actions to be performed in a first order. A processor receives monitored information of a service utilized to perform at least one action of the set of actions. A processor compares the monitored information to previously stored information. A processor determines that at least one aspect of the service is experiencing decreased performance based on the comparison. A processor identifies a first action of the set of actions corresponding to the at least one aspect of the service experiencing decreased performance. A processor adjusts the request, such that the request includes the set of actions to be performed in a second order, wherein the second order includes the first action is in a different position. A processor causes the adjusted request to be processed.

Request processing according to degradation monitoring

Software that generates a message containing program instructions for multiple layers in a multi-layer environment, by performing the following operations: (i) receiving an operation to perform across a multilayer computing environment; (ii) generating a message for performing the operation across the multilayer computing environment, wherein the message includes a plurality of layer portions, wherein each layer portion corresponds to a respective layer in the multilayer computing environment and includes computer program instructions for performing a set of sub-operation(s) of the operation; and (iii) orchestrating, by one or more processors, performance of the operation by sending the message between layers in the multilayer computing environment, wherein when the message is located at a respective layer, the layer performs its respective set of sub-operation(s) according to the computer program instructions included in the layer's respectively corresponding layer portion of the message.

Software that dynamically updates virtual machine templates at deterministic intervals in order to reduce patching time, by performing the following operations: (i) identifying a virtual machine (VM) provisioned according to a first VM template; (ii) initiating a patching process that applies a set of patch(es) to the VM, thereby creating a patched VM; (iii) determining that an amount of time taken to complete the patching process is greater than a predetermined threshold; and (iv) responsive to determining that the amount of time taken to complete the patching process is greater than the predetermined threshold, generating a second VM template based, at least in part, on the patched VM.

The message is sent to the selected hardware control point to manage the new manageable data processing system, wherein the selected hardware control point manages the new manageable data processing system.

The method, computer program product, and system provide for displaying a resource allocation matrix, the resource allocation matrix including a plurality of cells, each of the plurality of cells indicating a quantity of one of a plurality of resources on one of a plurality of physical systems allocated to one of a plurality of virtual systems hosted by the one physical system, receiving an input changing the quantity indicated in a cell, the cell indicating the quantity of a resource on a physical system allocated to a virtual system hosted by the physical system, and adjusting the quantity of the resource allocated to the virtual system based on the input.

A network having a plurality of nodes is reconfigured to reflect a change in topology of the network. In particular, upon receiving a reconfiguration request, each node enters a quiescent state for a predetermined period of time sufficient to allow at least one other node to also enter a quiescent state. Then, upon termination of the quiescent state, the node is reconfigured to reflect the change in the topology of the network without having to check with any other nodes of the network. In other embodiments, the predetermined period of time is sufficient to allow currently executing protocols to complete execution as well as to allow the transmission of reconfiguration requests for propagating reconfiguration in the network.

A topology propagation facility is provided for maintaining a common network topology database at different nodes in a distributed computing environment. The facility generates no message traffic when the distributed computing environment is in steady state. This is accomplished by discontinuing sending of group connectivity messages during a time period of no topology change within the distributed environment. Sending of group connectivity messages is reinitiated from at least one group leader upon identification by the group leader of at least one topology change within the distributed computing environment. Group connectivity messages are forwarded from one group of nodes on a first network to another group of nodes on a second network using a node common to both groups of nodes. The networks of the distributed computing environment can comprise heterogenous networks such that the topology propagation facility presented facilitates interoperability of the networks.
