A peripheral interface device that is adaptable into a computer system and which provides a communication interface for a plurality of external devices. The peripheral interface device comprises: a plurality of transfer control logic (TCL) modules, wherein each TCL module provides a dedicated interface for an associated one of the external devices, and wherein multiple TCL modules can communicate in parallel with their associated external devices; and a dual port memory (DPM) device that is in communication with an input/output bus of the computer system, wherein the DPM device can selectively communicate with each of the plurality of TCL modules.

A system and method for supplying replenishment fluid to an ink tank, wherein the ink tank includes a supply line to supply ink to a nozzle and a return line to receive unused ink. The method comprises the steps of periodically using a control system to recalibrate the ink pressure along the supply line to obtain an optimal print quality; and after the ink pressure has been recalibrated, using the control system to automatically adjust a supply rate of the replenishment fluid to the ink tank, wherein the supply rate of the replenishment fluid is adjusted based on the recalibrated ink pressure.

Method, apparatus and system is disclosed for providing TCP/IP addresses from a dynamic user identification server to workstations running an application program so that messages can be sent from one operator to another operator regardless of which workstation the other operator may be using, without the need to send the message itself through a server station. The dynamic user identification server also keeps track of the number of workstations in use at any one time and the number of copies of a licensed program being used for royalty control.
