A coated metal tubing arrangement comprises a metal tube. An inner layer of a first polymeric material is bonded to the tube to provide corrosion protection. The first polymeric material has a high crystallinity, a dampening factor of less than 0.05, and a flexural modulus of at least 100 MPa. An outer layer of a second polymeric material is extruded around the inner layer to absorb impact energies and to eliminate mechanical vibrations and acoustic noises. The second polymeric material has a dampening factor of at least 0.05 and a flexural modulus of less than 50 Mpa. The second polymeric material is a multi-phase polymer having at least one polymer component with a glass-transition temperature below room temperature.

Metal tubing coated with multiple layers of polymeric materials

A reinforced multi-layer flexible tubing for use in fuel-line applications. An inner layer of fluoroplastic is provided. The tubing is manufactured by simultaneously wrapping a reinforcing fabric ribbon layer and extruding a cover layer of a multiphase polymer around the inner layer.

A corrosion-resistant joint for use in automotive fluid line systems includes a flexible hose having an interior plastic lining surrounded by a metal wire braiding, a metal tube inserted in the hose, and a crimped metal ferrule retaining the hose on the tube. The metal tube has a plastic coated portion and an uncoated tube stem portion. The flexible hose has a plastic coated portion and an uncoated confronting end portion. The uncoated tube stem portion is received in the uncoated hose confronting end portion. The metal ferrule has a tube seal crimp portion crimped around a coated portion of the tube, a retention crimp portion crimped around the uncoated tube stem portion and uncoated hose confronting end portion, and a hose seal crimp portion crimped around the coated body portion of the hose.

Corrosion-resistant joint

An adjustable recirculation exhaust gas pressure differential venturi and coupler adapted to be coupled between an exhaust and an intake of an automotive-type engine and which receives exhaust gases from the exhaust for recirculation back through the intake. A valve having a chamfered orifice is located within the tubular coupler for controlling the flow of exhaust gases through the coupler thus controlling the pressure differential therein. The coupler is a two piece assembly with a telescopic connection which allows for axial and rotational adjustments.
