A lockable cover for a ground opening such as a manhole or catch basin. The cover has a lock including a reciprocating locking bolt mounted to its underside for engagement of a lip of a surrounding support. The bolt is accessible directly from above the cover through an aperture in the cover. In one disclosed embodiment, a cover is secured to its support by a pin which extends from the cover to under a lip of the support and a lock. In another embodiment, a catch basin cover is secured to its support through a hinge connection and a lock. In another embodiment, a manhole cover is secured to its support through a pair of locks.

The invention disclosed is a hydrogel-forming wound dressing or skin coating material suitable for household and veterinary use, consisting substantially entirely of wound-compatible and skin-compatible ingredients and comprising a first hydrophilic polymer, selected from polymers or copolymers of acrylic acid, polymers or copolymers of methacrylic acid, polymers or copolymers of itaconic acid, polymers or copolymers of maleic acid and polymers or copolymers of 3-butene-1,2,3-tricarboxylic acid, or combinations thereof, a second hydrophilic polymer which is capable of interacting with the first polymer to produce, upon drying, a hydrogel of improved water resistance and film forming properties relative to the first polymer alone and water. This material is film forming and substantially transparent but capable of being made opaque.

Method of making a hydrogel-forming wound dressing or skin coating

Orthodontic brackets or other dental attachments are provided with particulate material on the tooth engaging surface thereof to improve the bonding of bracket to a tooth surface.

Hydrogel-forming wound dressing or skin coating material

Bonding to calcified tissues, including human teeth, tooth dentine and bone, is achieved through the medium of crystal growth adhered to the tissue. The crystals preferably comprise gypsum crystals which are formed by contacting the tissue surface with a mildly acidic solution containing sulphate ions. An uncured liquid resin is applied to the crystal growth and is cured to achieve adhesion by micromechanical interlock with the crystal growth and by superficial penetration of the tissue surface.

Bonding to calcified tissues

Orthodontic brackets or other dental attachments are provided with particulate material on the tooth engaging surface thereof to improve the bonding of bracket to a tooth surface. The particulate material consists of metal spheres joined to each other and to the tooth engaging surface at their points of contact therewith.

The crystals preferably comprise gypsum crystals which are formed by contacting the tissue surface with a mildly acidic solution containing sulphate ions.
