A method and system for connecting a wireless handset to a wireline switch in an integrated wireline/wireless telecommunications network having a plurality of access controllers and wireline switches includes a wireless service processor operative to receive identification of a subscriber in response to a call attempt and determine a preferred connection between the wireless handset and one of the plurality of wireline switches based on predetermined data associated with the subscriber. The access controller is operative to connect the wireless handset to one of the plurality of wireline switches based on the preferred connection so as to complete the call attempt.

Method and system for connecting wireless handsets with wireline switches

A method and system for connecting a wireline telephone to a wireline switch in a wireline telecommunications network having a plurality of remote terminals and wireline switches includes a processing platform having a database associated therewith. The processing platform is operative to receive identification of a subscriber in response to a call attempt and determine a preferred connection between the wireline telephone and one of the plurality of wireline switches based on predetermined data stored in the database and associated with the subscriber. The remote terminal connects the wireline telephone to one of the plurality of wireline switches based on the preferred connection as directed by the processing platform so as to complete the call attempt.

Method and system for connecting a wireline telephone to a wireline switch in a wireline telecommunications network

A method and system is provided for transparently supporting a wireless service protocol such as IS-53 in a Generic C integrated wireless and wireline communication system operating with a wireline service protocol such as LSSGR. The Generic C architecture is provided with the capability of supporting common cellular system IS-53 wireless features in addition to the wireline LSSGR features otherwise provided by either translating wireless invocation codes to wireline invocation codes, or directing call processing to a dedicated wireless system mobile switching center (MSC) arranged to process IS-53 protocol. Feature code translation is performed in a wireless system location register (WSLR) to enable transparent IS-53 feature code support on a CLASS 5 wireline switch equipped with LSSGR features. Alternatively, upon inquiry from an access manager (AM), the WSLR directs the AM to route the call to the dedicated MSC for IS-53 code processing.

Method and system for supporting wireless features in a Generic C wireline architecture

A method and system is provided for selectively directing calls to wireless units in an integrated wireline and wireless communication system as part of a wireless extension service. When a call is forwarded by a wireline switch, the receiving wireless access manager determines whether the intended wireless subscriber unit is being serviced by a different access manager. If so, the call is automatically transferred using a high speed ATM inter-access manager communication line. Efficiency is therefore increased because the originating wireline switch does not need to set up an interoffice trunk line to accomplish the necessary call routing.

The switch processes and controls telephone calls to and from the subscriber to provide a plurality of communication features to the subscriber.
