A solid state switch (SSS) monitoring system of an electronic device includes a SSS sensing component that is electrically coupled to a solid state switch. The SSS sensing component generates a switch state signal to indicate a corresponding one of an actuated and an unactuated state of the solid state switch. A controller is communicatively coupled to the SSS sensing component. The controller restarts the SSS sensing component in response to determining that the SSS sensing component is in an inoperative state.

Electronic device with solid state switch monitoring

An electronic device, method, and computer program product enable limiting electromagnetic emissions from current between batteries. A first battery is positioned proximal to an earpiece speaker within the electronic device. At least one second battery is positioned at a different location within the electronic device that is not proximal to the earpiece speaker. A switch is coupled to a first battery proximal to the earpiece speaker among the plurality of batteries. The switch is selectively toggled to limit current drawn from the first battery while the earpiece speaker is operating, in order to reduce baseband electromagnetic emissions emanating from the first battery.

Electronic device that limits electromagnetic emissions from multiple batteries

A solid state switch (SSS) monitoring system of an electronic device includes a SSS sensing component that is electrically coupled to a solid state switch. The SSS sensing component periodically generates a clocked pulse that polls the solid state switch. The SSS sensing component determines whether an electrical characteristic of an output of the solid state switch indicates that the solid state switch is actuated. The SSS sensing component generates a switch state signal to indicate a corresponding one of an actuated and an unactuated state of the solid state switch. A controller is communicatively coupled to the SSS sensing component. The controller restarts the SSS sensing component in response to determining that the SSS sensing component is in an inoperative state.

An electronic device, method, and computer program product enable limiting electromagnetic emissions from current between batteries. A first battery is positioned proximal to an earpiece speaker within the electronic device. At least one second battery is positioned at a different location within the electronic device that is not proximal to the earpiece speaker. A controller is electrically connected to a switch that is electrically connected in-line with the first battery. The controller selectively toggles the switch between first and second switches state. The controller initiates activation of a first software mode of the electronic device corresponding to operation of the earpiece speaker. In response to detecting the activation, the controller toggles the switch to the first switch state in which the switch limits current drawn from the first battery while the electronic device is in the first software mode, thus reducing baseband electromagnetic emissions emanating from the first battery.

In aspects of flip position detection, a mobile device has a device housing with a base section and a flip section that folds onto the base section. The mobile device has a hinge that operates between open and closed positions of the device, and the flip section of the device housing operates to open relative to the base section of the device housing. An inductor is positioned in the device housing to have an inductance as the hinge operates to open and close the device housing. A metal plate is coupled to the hinge in a configuration that translates the metal plate relative to the inductor as the hinge operates between the open and closed positions. A sensor is implemented to detect the inductance between the inductor and the metal plate, where inductance values indicate the closed and open positions of the device housing.

Flip position detection

There is described a portable electronic device capable of detecting false wake conditions, and a method thereof. The portable electronic device comprises a sensor circuit and a display. The sensor circuit detects double tap data associated with user input and motion data subsequent to the double tap data within a predetermined time period. The sensor circuit also determines whether the motion data corresponds to at least one criterion associated with non-user input. The display wakes from a sleep state in response to the sensor circuit determining that the motion data corresponds to the at least one criterion. For some embodiments, the sensor circuit includes a motion sensor to detect the motion data and a sensor hub to determine whether the motion data corresponds to the at least one criterion.
