A conductive elastomeric and mechanical pin and contact system for creation of a Elastromechanical Connector () that combines Mechanical Pins, an Insulator Array with Conductive Elastromeric Memory Material. This combination provides a low cost, high density, reliable, reusable electronic interconnect system. This system can be used in place of most connector systems in use today. It replaces any connector that uses pins and sockets and also supports the fine conductor pitch required in the semiconductor business like Ball Grid Array (BGA) Sockets and related devises. The inventive device includes mechanical pins (), installed in an insulator (), each mechanical pin is topped with conductive elastromeric compound (). A mechanical pin is used for each connection point, the insulator positions the mechanical pins in an array pattern appropriate to the interconnection requirement. A conductive elastromeric compound is added to each metal pin to create the Z axis electrical coplanality to the mating unit. This connector will mate between printed circuit boards, packaged electronic assembles, BGAs or LGA type products, harnesses or cables without the need of solder or pins and sockets. Eliminating solder or pins and sockets reduces the pitch between connections. Mechanical pins are plated drawn, formed or machined conductive metal alloys. Insulator is molded or machined out of engineered plastic examples being, but not limited to, FR-4, Ultem&#xae;, Polyimide, Torlon&#xae;. Electrically conductive elastromeric compounds made up of flexible silicone and rubbers with conductive compounds added.

Process for fabricating a connector

A process to make a connector is enclosed. The claimed embodiment comprises the following steps. First, design an insulating substrate using a customer specification. Second, program a Computer Numerical Control machine tool to form holes in the insulating substrate according to the design made in step one. Third, program a computer controlled dispensing machine tool to dispense conductive polymer into each hole formed in step 2. Fourth, form holes in the insulating substrate using the programmed Computer Numerical Control machine tool. Fifth, place a pin in each hole. Sixth, using a computer controlled automated dispensing machine, dispense electrically conductive polymer into each hole around the pin. And, finally, cure the polymer to hold the pin in place.

Method of making a conductive elastomeric coplanar connector with mechanical pin

A semitrailer tarpaulin securing system includes a trailer with a first lateral wall, a second lateral wall and an opening extending into an upper side of the trailer. A plurality of covering supports extends between the first and second lateral walls and across the opening. A covering is removably positionable on the supports to close the opening. Each of a plurality of retaining members has a first end, a second end and a central portion extending between the first and second ends. Each of the first ends is attached to the first lateral wall and each of the second ends is attached to the second lateral wall so that the central portion of each of the retaining members extends over the opening of the trailer. The covering is between the supports and the retaining members. The retaining members inhibit the covering from blowing off of the trailer.

Semitrailer tarpaulin securing system

A lift apparatus to deploy from a storage position in a ceiling to a working position supported by the floor of a room below the ceiling where the lift apparatus is stored. A electrically motor powered drive raises a lift platform and lowers a lift platform to carry items from the room to an attic above the room. Controls are used to deploy the lift apparatus and to operate the lift platform on the lift apparatus. Preferred method of operating the lift apparatus is an acme screw drive which provides an appropriate mechanical advantage reducing the size of the motor required, but also will prevent downward movement either of the lift apparatus during the deployment procedure or of the lift platform while moving items from the attic to the room below the attic or from the room below the attic to the attic. The lift apparatus is supported by the floor and does not require any special bracing or strengthening of floor joists. When stored it is completely out of view of the living area of the room below the ceiling where the apparatus is stored.

Another embodiment substitutes a metal plated through hole for the pin and uses elastomeric flex dots on both ends of the through hole.

Conductive elastomeric and mechanical pin and contact system

The present invention provides a baseball base securing device comprising a buried hollow receiving tube and a spring biased cover. Generally, the baseball base, having a downwardly extending anchor member is receivable by and removable from the receiving tube. The spring biased cover is insertable into the receiver and positionable between a flush position and a retracted position within the receiver. The cover is in the flush position just under the surface, when the anchor of the baseball base is removed from the receiver. The cover is traversed to the retracted position when the anchor of the baseball base is inserted into the receiving tube. The cover, including a air permeable seal around the perimeter, and in contact with the sidewall of the receiving tube pushes dirt out from the receiving tube when the anchor of the base is being removed therefrom, and the cover prevents environmental debris or dirt from entering the receiver when the anchor is not inserted into the receiver.

Baseball base securing device

A barrier system that is lightweight and exceeds existing safety regulations is disclosed. The barrier system has a plurality of rod-like, elongated bodies, a bracket system to affix the elongated bodies to a structure where the barrier is desired, and an attachment for fixedly, but removably, attaching webbing to the elongated bodies to create the barrier. In a number of preferred embodiments, the attachment mechanism is formed from a plurality of loops arrayed along each elongated body with the loops forming a plurality of substantially aligned openings arrayed along the elongated body. A locking pin is placed through the aligned openings on an elongated body after the webbing has been placed against the elongated body. A variety of bracket systems are disclosed which allow the barrier system to be used in virtually unlimited applications for temporary barriers.
