A process for the recovery and production of meso-lactide from a crude lactide containing stream may include subjecting a starting crude lactide stream to a first distillation step to obtain: a top stream mainly containing meso-lactide; a bottom stream; and a side stream mainly containing L-lactide and meso-lactide. The process may include recovering the side stream and subjecting the side stream to a melt crystallization step to obtain: a first purified stream mainly containing L-lactide; and a drain stream mainly containing meso-lactide and L-lactide. The process may include recovering the top stream and drain stream, and subjecting the top stream and drain stream to a second distillation step to obtain a second purified stream containing L-lactide and meso-lactide.

Process for recovering and improving production of meso-lactide from a crude lactide containing stream

A process for preparing polyolefin in a polymerization loop reactor can include feeding olefin monomer, liquid diluent, polymerization catalyst, optionally hydrogen, and optionally olefin co-monomer into the polymerization loop reactor. The process can include polymerizing the olefin monomer and optionally the olefin co-monomer to produce a polyolefin slurry in the polymerization loop reactor. The polymerization loop reactor can include a plurality of interconnected pipes defining a flow path for the polyolefin slurry. The polymerization loop reactor can include one or more settling legs provided on at least one horizontal part of the interconnected pipes. The circulation velocity of the polyolefin slurry inside at least one horizontal part of the interconnected pipes provided with one or more settling legs can be reduced by at least 20% and at most 60% compared to a circulation velocity inside a remainder of the polymerization loop reactor.

The present invention relates to a process for recycling product streams that have been separated from a hydrocarbon-containing feed stream comprising olefin monomer, olefin co-monomer, hydrocarbon diluent and components such as H, N, O, CO, CO, and formaldehyde. In accordance with the present process a hydrocarbon-containing feed stream is separated into a) a first side stream comprising hydrocarbon diluent and olefin monomer; b) a second side stream which is substantially hydrogen-free and comprises hydrocarbon diluent and olefin monomer, c) a bottom stream comprising substantially olefin-free hydrocarbon diluent, and d) an overhead vapor stream comprising olefin monomer, hydrocarbon diluent and components such as formaldehyde, H, N, O, CO and CO. The present process further includes recycling said first and said second side streams in a polymerization process for preparing bimodal polyolefin.

Process for the separation of a hydrocarbon-containing feed stream

A process and system for the vapor phase alkylation of an aromatic substrate in a multi-stage alkylation reaction zone having a plurality of series-connected catalyst beds spaced from one another to provide mixing zones between adjacent catalyst beds. A feedstock containing an aromatic substrate and a C&#x2013;Calkylating agent is supplied to an inlet side of the reaction zone. The reaction zone is operated at conditions in which the aromatic substrate is in the gas phase and causing vapor phase alkylation of the aromatic substrate as the aromatic substrate and the alkylating agent flow through the reaction zone and pass from one catalyst bed to the next. A quench fluid comprising one or both of the aromatic substrate and the alkylating agent is supplied into the interior of the mixing zone through a plurality of flow paths in which one portion of the flow paths is directed upwardly within the mixing zone and another portion downwardly within the mixing zone. Alkylated product is then recovered from the downstream side of the reaction zone. The quench fluid is supplied to the mixing zone through a plurality of dispersion channels which are spaced laterally from one another and extend transversely across the mixing chamber. At least some of the dispersion channels dispense the quench fluid alternately, upwardly and downwardly within the mixing zone.

Multistage reaction system with interstage sparger systems

Vapor phase alkylation of an aromatic substrate in a multi-stage alkylation reaction zone having a plurality of series-connected catalyst beds providing mixing zones between adjacent catalyst beds. An aromatic substrate and a C -C alkylating agent is supplied to an inlet side of a gas phase reaction zone causing vapor phase alkylation of the aromatic substrate as the aromatic substrate and the alkylating agent flow through the reaction zone from one catalyst bed to the next. A quench fluid comprising one or both of the aromatic substrate and the alkylating agent is supplied into the interior of the mixing zone through a plurality of flow paths. One portion of the flow paths is directed upwardly and another portion downwardly within the mixing zone. The quench fluid is supplied to the mixing zone through a plurality of dispersion channels spaced laterally from one another.
