A intake manifold or splitter for an internal combustion engine and a process for production of same wherein a functional unit, comprised of a shaft with valves attached thereto, is assembled with bearing parts comprising clothespin-like clamps that clamp onto the shaft to form a sub-assembly which is mounted as a unit into receiving housing of the manifold or splitter, wherein a molding or over-molding at is provided at a level of the contact surface of a connection plate to lock the assembly of valves, shaft and bearings into the receiving housings and form sealing formations that seal against gases between the intake manifold or splitter and the internal combustion engine.

Process for the production of an intake manifold and corresponding manifold

This invention relates to a double-plenum or double-chamber inlet manifold or splitter, made up of a structural unit comprising two distinct coupled plenums with a common wall, an inlet opening for each of the two plenums and several pipes through each of the said plenums, the said superimposed plenums having substantially flattened general structures and forming, with their respectively connected inlet openings and pipes, two independent circulation circuits running from the entrance at the inlet openings to the outlet at the external openings of the pipes, the said external or outlet openings of the pipes being grouped in pairs, with each pair having an opening of each of the two types of pipes; the manifold comprises two one-piece parts assembled together, in a gas-tight manner, at the continuous assembly areas, a first part incorporating at least the two inlet openings and first portions of the walls of the two plenums, contiguous to the said openings and the second part incorporating the pipes and second portions of the walls of the two plenums, contiguous to the said pipes and complementary to the above-mentioned first portions.

An air inlet module incorporating, in one structural unit, on the one hand, a supply manifold, on the other hand, an exhaust gas reinjection circuit and, finally, a gas/liquid heat exchanger designed to cool the exhaust gases, the module consisting of a sealed assembly of at most four parts, namely, a first part comprising the inlet manifold, the outlet manifolds, a portion of the supply conduit, and a hollow body forming the tank of the exchanger, a second part comprising the many circulation manifolds and a support body for assembling said manifolds in the tank, and a third part of which one portion forms a cover for the hollow open container and comprising several conduit portions forming at least partially the exhaust gas circulation circuit and conveying these gases to the inlet manifold, also incorporated in said third part.

The present invention relates to an intake manifold or distributor for an air feed circuit for an internal-combustion engine comprising, on the one hand, an intake or plenum chamber of elongate shape and provided at one of its longitudinal ends with an intake aperture and, on the other hand, at least two pipes laterally connected to said chamber, said pipes extending at least partially around said intake chamber from their inlet apertures opening therein and having a curved structure over at least a portion of their length.
