An integrated circuit may include a semiconductor die having a trench formed in a surface of the semiconductor die. One or more circuit components may be formed on the surface of the semiconductor die. The trench can extend into the semiconductor die next to at least one circuit component. The trench may surround the circuit component partially or wholly. The trench may be filled with a material having a lower bulk modulus than the semiconductor die in which the trench is formed.

Localized strain relief for an integrated circuit

Systems for monitoring or control can include reconfigurable input and output channels. Such reconfigurable channels can include as few as a single terminal and a ground pin, or such channels can include three or four terminal configuration such as for use in four-terminal resistance measurements. Channel reconfiguration can be accomplished such as using software-enabled or firmware-enabled control of channel hardware. Such channel hardware can include analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog conversion capability, including use of a digital-to-analog converter to provide field power or biasing. In an example, the interface circuit can provide a selectable impedance.

Configurable hardware platform for measurement or control

Embodiments of the present invention provide a motor-driven mechanical system with a detection system to measure properties of a back channel and derive oscillatory characteristics of the mechanical system. Uses of the detection system may include calculating the resonant frequency of the mechanical system and a threshold drive Drequired to move the mechanical system from the starting mechanical stop position. System manufacturers often do not know the resonant frequency and Dof their mechanical systems precisely. Therefore, the calculation of the specific mechanical system's resonant frequency and Drather than depending on the manufacturer's expected values improves precision in the mechanical system use. The backchannel calculations may be used either to replace or to improve corresponding pre-programmed values.

Control techniques for motor driven systems

A drive signal for a motor-driven mechanical system has zero (or near zero) energy at an expected resonant frequency of the mechanical system. These techniques not only generate a drive signal with substantially no energy at the expected resonant frequency, they provide a zero-energy 'notch' of sufficient width to tolerate systems in which the actual resonant frequency differs from the expected resonant frequencies.

A system provides for a voltage reference having a small temperature coefficient spread. The voltage reference includes a PTAT voltage trimming circuit that accurately trims the CTAT voltage component of the bandgap type voltage reference. The voltage trimming circuit includes two bipolar transistors that are biased by biasing currents to create a specific base-emitter voltage difference at an output. The bias currents can be digitally trimmed by a current digital-to-analog ('DAC') converter. This may result in the ability to trim the voltage reference at a single temperature, without the need to trim at two or more temperatures.

Precision CMOS voltage reference

Methods and systems for managing and/or tracking use of SIM smart cards with integrated or external SIM module systems that are utilized with information handling systems. A SIM module system may be locked with a generic locking code to lock a SIM module system of a given information handling system for use with a designated SIM smart card that is programmed with a matching generic locking code. The locked SIM module system of the information handling system may be further configured so that it may be unlocked using an unlocking code so as to allow use of the information handling system with SIM smart cards other than the designated SIM smart card. To allow tracking of the disposition of the designated SIM smart card, notification of the non-activation, de-activation and/or activation of the designated SIM smart card (e.g., to an activation tracking agent) may be required before obtaining the unlocking code, for example, from an activation tracking agent.

Methods and systems for managing and/or tracking use of subscriber identity module components

A drive signal for a motor-driven mechanical system has zero (or near zero) energy at an expected resonant frequency of the mechanical system. The drive signal may be provided in a series of steps according to a selected row of Pascal's triangle, wherein the number of steps equals the number of entries from the selected row of Pascal's triangle, each step has a step size corresponding to a respective entry of the selected row of Pascal's triangle, and the steps are spaced from each other according to a time constant determined by an expected resonant frequency of the mechanical system. Alternatively, the stepped drive signal may be provided as a series of uniform steps according to a selected row of Pascal's triangle, in which the steps are provided in a number of spaced intervals corresponding to the number of entries from the selected row of Pascal's triangle, each interval includes a number of steps corresponding to a respective entry from the selected row of Pascal's triangle and the intervals are spaced in time according to a time constant determined from the expected resonant frequency of the mechanical system. These techniques not only generate a drive signal with substantially no energy at the expected resonant frequency, they provide a zero-energy 'notch' of sufficient width to tolerate systems in which the actual resonant frequency differs from the expected resonant frequencies.

A multi-channel integrated circuit comprises a plurality of channels (CHto CH). A DAC () is provided in each channel (CHto CH) for converting digital data inputted to the circuit () through an I/O port (). Digital data to be converted by the DACs () is selectively applied to input registers () of each channel (CHto CH) on a digital data bus () under the control of an interface and control logic circuit (). The digital words written to the input registers () are in turn written to DAC registers () through corresponding digital switches () for conversion by the DACs (). A clear code register () stores a clear code for writing to the DAC registers () in response to a clear signal applied to a clear terminal () of the circuit () so that analogue outputs appearing on output terminals () of the channels (CHto CH) are of a predetermined value, typically, zero volts, when the circuit () is set in a clear condition. The clear code is written to the clear code register () through the I/O port () and the interface and control logic circuit ().
