Meter electronics () for processing sensor signals in a flow meter is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The meter electronics () includes an interface () for receiving a first sensor signal and a second sensor signal and a processing system () in communication with the interface () and configured to receive the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal, generate a ninety degree phase shift from the first sensor signal, and compute a frequency from the first sensor signal and the ninety degree phase shift. The processing system () is further configured to generate sine and cosine signals using the frequency, and quadrature demodulate the first sensor signal and the second sensor signal using the sine and cosine signals in order to determine the phase difference.

A Coriolis flow meter () is provided according to an embodiment of the invention. The meter () includes one or more flow conduits (), at least two pickoff sensors (') affixed to the one or more flow conduits (), a driver () configured to vibrate the one or more flow conduits (), and meter electronics () coupled to the at least two pickoff sensors (&#x2032;) and to the driver (). The meter electronics () vibrate the one or more flow conduits () of the flow meter () with a first vibration frequency and in a first out-of-phase bending mode, measure a first vibrational response, with the first vibrational response being generated in response to the first vibration frequency, vibrate the one or more flow conduits () with at least a second vibration frequency and in the first out-of-phase bending mode, measure a second vibrational response, and determine at least a mass flow rate and a viscosity using the first and second vibrational responses.

Coriolis flow meter and method for determining flow characteristics

A flow meter filter system () according to an embodiment of the invention includes a noise pass filter () configured to receive a first version of a flow meter signal and filter out the flow meter data from the flow meter signal to leave a noise signal, a noise quantifier () configured to receive the noise signal from the noise pass filter () and measure noise characteristics of the noise signal, a damping adjuster () configured to receive the noise characteristics from the noise quantifier () and generate a damping value based on the noise characteristics, and a filter element () configured to receive a second version of the flow meter signal and receive the damping value from the damping adjuster (), with the filter element () being further configured to damp the second version of the flow meter signal based on the damping value in order to produce a filtered flow meter signal.

Flow meter filter system and method

A digital signal processor for determining a property of a material flowing through a conduit. The digital signal processor of this invention receives signals from two pick-off sensor mounted at two different points along a flow tube at a first sample rate. The signals are converted to digital signals. The digital signals are decimated from a first sample rate to a desired sample rate. The frequency of the received signals is then determined from the digital signals at the desired sample rate.
