In one aspect, the dual bevel needle can include a hollow tube having a proximal end, a distal end, a first lateral side, and a second lateral side opposite the first lateral side; a first needle point at the distal end of the hollow tube; a second point at the distal end of the hollow tube; a first bevel on each of the first lateral side and the second lateral side, the first bevel comprising a first bevel angle relative to a longitudinal axis of the tube; and a second bevel on each of the first lateral side and the second lateral side, the second bevel having a second bevel angle relative to the longitudinal axis of the tube, wherein the first and second bevels each form a portion of an ellipse, the ellipse having an inner cutting edge and terminating in the first and second needle points at the distal end of the tube, the second bevel angle being shallower than the first bevel angle, the second bevel being located adjacent the proximal end of the first bevel, and the inner cutting edge converging to a narrow heel.

Method and system for harvesting biological tissue

An ocular device for placement under an eyelid that includes a plate with a back surface having at least one protrusion having a convex contact surface to contact the sclera of the eye and to provide an offset space. The plate can be connected to an elongated support member. The ocular device can deliver a material to an eye of a user, including, for example, a pharmaceutically active agent. A case for holding and dispensing an ocular device includes a well configured to retain fluid, a stabilizer, and a lid. The lid is connected to the well and rotatable between a position covering the well and a position with the well uncovered. The lid can have a port for adding fluid to the well, and a receiver, which can hold an ocular device, can project from the lid.

An improved system for attaching devices to the distal end of endoscopic instruments is described. An attachment adapter comprises a distal stop, such as a complete or partial loop or cylinder, which limits the penetration of an endoscope into the adapter. The adapter has at least one flange protruding proximally along the endoscope. The adapter is secured on the endoscope by a securing means, which compresses the flange or flanges sufficiently to provide a friction fit. The flexibility of the inventive adapter system allows the adapter to work reliably with endoscopes that are used, damaged or repaired. The adapter may further provide a slit or window allowing viewing of the vessel wall by a lens on an endoscope, thereby improving the operator's ability to understand the location of the endoscope during operation. The adapter may carry any of a variety of devices, including devices for closing a surgical incision, or treating or manipulating tissue. Improvements are described in a number of areas to allow more flexible pairing of particular endoscopes or endoscopic instruments with devices to be carried on their exteriors, while maintaining a tightly locked position of the external device on the carrier.

In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a method for harvesting biological tissue. In some embodiments, the method includes providing a device having a plurality of segments of hollow tubes, each hollow tube having at least one point at the distal end of the hollow tube, the plurality of segments forming a two dimensional array of hollow tubes, wherein each segment can include a plurality of hollow tubes; positioning the two dimensional array of hollow tubes proximal to an upper surface of a biological tissue; advancing a first segment of the two dimensional array of hollow tubes into the biological tissue to sever portions of the biological tissue from the surrounding tissue; raising the first segment of the two dimensional array of hollow tubes such that the biological tissue remains in each of the hollow tubes of the first segment; advancing a second segment of the two dimensional array of hollow tubes into the biological tissue to sever portions of the biological tissue from the surrounding tissue; and raising the second segment of the two dimensional array of hollow tubes such that the biological tissue remains in each of the hollow tubes of the second segment.

In one aspect, the present disclosure relates to a device for obtaining biological tissue. In some embodiments, the device can include a first row of a plurality of hollow tubes; a second row of a plurality of hollow tubes, adjacent the first row of hollow tubes; a third row of a plurality of hollow tubes, adjacent the second row of hollow tubes, the first, second and third rows forming an array of hollow tubes; wherein each hollow tube can include at least one point at the distal end of the hollow tube, the plurality of rows forming a two dimensional array of hollow tubes; wherein an inner diameter of the at least one tube is less than about 1 mm, the distal end of each of the hollow tubes is configured to be inserted into a biological tissue donor site to remove a portion of tissue therefrom when each of the hollow tubes is withdrawn from the donor site.

The invention generally relates to devices for generating and transferring micrografts and methods of use thereof. In certain embodiments, devices of the invention include a housing having an open configuration and a closed configuration, a micrograft generating station, and a micrograft transferring station.

A self-closing tissue fastener for use in wound closure and surgery has, in an annular configuration, a central ring; tissue-piercing spines projecting from a first side of the ring; and stabilizing members projecting from a second side of the ring. The fastener can be carried on the inside of a tube, where it is stable without additional restraint, as well as on the outside of a tube or mandrel. The device can be compressed from a planar state, as fabricated, to the annular state by compressing the stabilizers (or, if they are on the outside in the planar form, the barbs). Unlike present devices, which are not as stable in the annular state, the inventive device and an applicator therefore provide an open channel to a site of surgery, for passage of endoscopes or various endoscopic and similar instruments. In particular, the fastener can be delivered under endoscopic monitoring.

An ocular device for insertion into an eye is provided and includes a body having an anterior surface and a posterior surface for placement on one of superior sclera and inferior sclera of the eye. The posterior surface is defined by a base curve that is substantially identical to a radius of curvature of the one of the superior sclera and inferior sclera of the eye. In one embodiment, the ocular device serves as an ocular drug delivery device and contains an active pharmaceutical agent, a lubricant, etc.

In certain embodiments, methods of the invention involve harvesting a plurality of skin grafts from a subject, applying the grafts to a first substrate, stretching the first substrate, and transferring the grafts from the first substrate to at least a second substrate for application to a patient recipient site.
