In one embodiment, the method includes receiving a user request to cancel a query previously sent to a database and calling an application programming interface (API) provided by the database to terminate one or more statements running on the database, the one or more statements being related to the query.

According to one aspect of the present invention, a method is provided in which a request submitted by a user via a user-interface is sent from a client to a server for processing. Upon being notified by the server that the request may take a long time to process, inform the user of the status of the request.
