In the invention, the pivot is secured to a first panel of the waffle-iron and has a housing which is adapted, when the two panels are in the closed position, to receive a locking element secured to the other panel, and the bearing has an opening disposed so as to allow the locking element to pass freely for opening and closing the waffle-iron when it is in its working position, and to prevent the two panels from opening when it is in its upside-down position.
