A lamp and a method for generating high power in laser applications includes a source for emitting optical radiation along an optical path and a holder configured in the optical path having a fluorescent body. The lamp and method further include a collecting unit configured to transmit at least a portion of the optical radiation emitted by the fluorescent body to an output of the lamp. The fluorescent body includes a shape that is elongated in a predetermined direction. Accordingly, providing a small spot and little divergence in conjunction with good heat dissipation leads to a high optical performance.

Lamp for laser applications

The invention relates to a lighting device comprising: &#x2014;at least one light source (); &#x2014;a reflective member () comprising a reflective surface () and an edge () ('first edge') forming a light cut-off of light rays passing in a region adjacent to this first edge (); &#x2014;a light-modifying member () adapted to modify lighting feature(s) of light rays and having an edge ('second edge'). The light-modifying member () extends from the reflective member () to this second edge () over a surface area defined to receive a part of the light rays passing in said region. The second edge is designed such that, among said part of light rays, the light-modifying member () modifies proportionally more light rays passing proximate the first edge than light rays passing less proximate the first edge (). The invention relates also to said light-modifying member () per se.

Lighting device having a smooth cut-off

The present invention relates to light emitting devices and more specifically to light emitting devices comprising light guides making use of total internal reflection (TIR). The light emitting device () comprises a substrate (), a plurality of light sources () mounted on the substrate () and a light guide plate (). Reflective shielding () is arranged to shield the light guide plate () at positions were the flux of the direct light of the light sources () towards the light guide plate () have their maximum density in a powered state of the light sources (). The reflective shielding () enhances the mixing of light and avoids glare problems. In-coupled is transmitted within the light guide plate () by total internal reflection so that light from different light sources () is mixed within the light guide plate (). Further, at least a part of the lower surface is provided with an optical structure () for out-coupling of light.
