A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner generates a baseline current based on a time constant of the channel input associated with the measuring of the capacitance of the element of the capacitive sense array using the programmable baseline resistor. The capacitive hardware baseliner provides the baseline current at the channel input to provide a charge for a sense capacitor. A change in the charge of the sense capacitor is provided by the baseline current indicating a presence of a tough object proximate to the element.

Providing a baseline capacitance for a capacitance sensing channel

This application is directed to intra-panel communication in a touch display device in which a touch-integrated timing controller (TTCON) is coupled to touch-embedded source drivers (TSDs) via a plurality of forward links and a set of backward links. The forward links include a first subset of display forward links and a second subset of touch forward links. The TSDs are electrically coupled to a display panel including a plurality of display pixels and a plurality of touch sensors. The TTCON sends a display drive signal including display content data and display control data over the display forward links, and sends a touch control signal including an instruction to initiate an operation mode over the touch forward links. Upon receiving the touch control signal, the TSDs identify the instruction to initiate the operation mode, generate touch data accordingly, and return the touch data to the TTCON via the backward links.

Intra-panel interface for concurrent display driving and touch sensing in touchscreen displays

A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a channel input associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a capacitive hardware baseliner that is coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner includes a programmable baseline resistor, and a buffer with an input coupled to the programmable baseline resistor and an output coupled to the channel input. The capacitive hardware baseliner generates a baseline current based on a time constant of the channel input associated with the measuring of the capacitance of the element of the capacitive sense array using the programmable baseline resistor. The capacitive hardware baseliner provides the baseline current at the channel input to provide a charge for a sense capacitor. A change in the charge of the sense capacitor is provided by the baseline current indicating a presence of a touch object proximate to the element.

A capacitance-sensing circuit may include a plurality of channel inputs associated with measuring a capacitance of a unit cell of a capacitive sense array. The capacitance-sensing circuit may also include a baseliner component that is coupled to the plurality of channel inputs. The baseliner component may generate a baseline compensation signal using a capacitive circuit and may provide the baseline compensation signal to each of the plurality of channel inputs of the capacitive sense array.

Generating a baseline compensation signal based on a capacitive circuit

This application is directed to detecting touch events using a display pixel array. The display pixel array includes display pixels each of which is disposed between a display electrode and a common electrode. For touch sensing, a processing device drives the subset of common electrodes with an integration voltage that varies by a voltage variation at a predetermined slew rate. The processing device also drives a subset of display electrodes corresponding to the subset of common electrodes in a synchronous manner, thereby reducing an impact of parasitic capacitance associated with the subset of common electrodes. Each of the subset of display electrodes is driven with an adjusted display voltage that varies by the voltage variation at the predetermined slew rate. While driving the subsets of common and display electrodes, a capacitive sense signal associated with the subset of common electrodes is measured at an output of a capacitance sense circuit.

Disclosed is a micro-electro-mechanical switch, including a substrate having a gate connection, a source connection, a drain connection and a switch structure, coupled to the substrate. The switch structure includes a beam member, an anchor and a hinge. The beam member having a length sufficient to overhang both the gate connection and the drain connection. The anchor coupling the switch structure to the substrate, the anchor having a width. The hinge coupling the beam member to the anchor at a respective position along the anchor's length, the hinge to flex in response to a charge differential established between the gate and the beam member. The switch structure having gaps between the substrate and the anchor in regions proximate to the hinges.

An apparatus includes a reconfigurable charge pump including charge pump cells configurable into multiple different arrangements. The apparatus includes a control device configured to select a first arrangement of the charge pump cells from the multiple different arrangements based, at least in part, on an input voltage received by the reconfigurable charge pump and requested parameters of a drive signal for a touch screen panel. The reconfigurable charge pump can boost the input voltage based, at least in part, on the first arrangement of the charge pump cells. The control device can generate the drive signal according to the requested parameters based on the boosted input voltage.

Reconfigurable charge pump

A circuit for generating a voltage is disclosed. The voltage has an amplitude greater than an available power supply. The circuit includes a driver to supply the voltage on an output terminal to an electrode of a touch sense array. The circuit also includes a charge pump array coupled to the driver. The charge pump array includes an array of charge pumps to supply an input voltage to the driver. The circuit also includes a feedback circuit coupled to the charge pump array. The feedback circuit is configured to measure the input voltage and to select different combinations of the array of charge pumps to maintain the voltage on the output terminal.

Circuit to provide signal to sense array

An apparatus includes a down pump configured to generate a regulated voltage signal based, at least in part, on an input voltage and a reference voltage. The apparatus includes a level shifter configured to generate an activation signal having a voltage level corresponding to the reference voltage based, at least in part, on the input voltage and the regulated voltage signal. The apparatus includes a switching device configured to generate a drive signal corresponding to the input voltage in response to the activation signal.

Adaptive drive system

An apparatus includes a charge pump array including multiple charge pump cells. The charge pump array is configurable into a first arrangement of the charge pump cells coupled in series or a second arrangement of the charge pump cells coupled in parallel. The apparatus can include reconfiguration circuitry configured to select the first arrangement of the charge pump cells or the second arrangement of the charge pump cells. The charge pump array is configured to alter a voltage level of a signal based, at least in part, on the selected arrangement of the charge pump cells.

A method of driving a switch having a movable member and a contact first applies (to the switch) a first signal having a first level, and then applies a second signal having a second level to the switch (after applying the first signal). The first level is greater than the second level. One or both of the first and second signals cause the movable member to move to electrically connect with the contact.

Disclosed are a method, device, and system for a microelectromechanical (MEM) device control system that can control the operation of a MEM device. The system can include a microelectromechanical device and a control circuit. The micromechanical device can include a moveable member coupled to an electrical terminal, a sensor, responsive to a movement of the moveable member, can output a sensor signal based on the movement of the moveable member, and an actuating electrode for receiving a control signal. The control circuit can be responsive to the signals output by the sensor and outputs the control signal to the actuating electrode.
