Indication of an amount of processing performed in detection and removal of ingress noise may be provided. A frequency domain representation of a narrowband region of a digital input signal may be received. The received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region may be compared with a predetermined threshold. Results from the comparison of the received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region with the predetermined threshold may be aggregated. Based on the aggregated results, an indication of an amount of processing performed by an ingress exciser in removing the ingress noise may be provided.

Previously available elastomeric EMI gaskets provided for multiport RF connector assemblies have performance limiting drawbacks. Consequently, EM isolation provided by a previously available elastomeric EMI gasket is often inadequate. Various implementations disclosed herein include multiport RF connection arrangements that use a metal gasket arranged within at least a portion of an isolation space provided by a multiport RF connector. In some implementations, a multiport connection arrangement includes a substrate, a multiport RF connector and a fitted metal gasket. The substrate includes a first surface and a first plurality of connection ports. The multiport connector has a body that includes a second surface, a second plurality of connection ports, and includes an electromagnetic isolation boundary that defines an isolation space between at least two of the second plurality of connection ports terminating at the second surface. Mechanical fasteners are optional and are included to merely provide engagement, without substantial compressive force.

Indication of an amount of processing performed in detection and removal of ingress noise may be provided. A frequency domain representation of a narrowband region of a digital input signal may be received. The received frequency domain representation of the narrowband region may be compared with a predetermined threshold. Presented herein are non-disruptive noise estimation techniques that utilize a correlation between attributes of a received signal and the noise to generate estimated noise values for symbols of the signal. More specifically, a digital signal comprising symbols transmitted over a telecommunications network is received. For each of a plurality of the symbols, an estimated noise value associated with the respective symbol is generated through a correlation of a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) value to predetermined noise values. The estimated noise values for the plurality of symbols are used to generate noise information representing time and frequency characteristics of noise in the telecommunications network.

Non-disruptive network noise measurement

A system and related methodology are provided that are configured to receive, at a first network element, multiple channels of video delivered as respective streams of packets, form a packet switched communication frame including a sub-layer header, encapsulate packets from the multiple channels of video into a payload field of the communication frame to obtain encapsulated packets, identify the encapsulated packets in the payload field with respective tags in the sub-layer header, designate the encapsulated packets in the payload field with respective launch values in the sub-layer header, and transmit the communication frame to a second network element. The first network element may be a universal edge quadrature amplitude modulator (UEQAM) and the second network element may be a relatively distant fiber node of a cable plant. The sub-layer header may also include Program Clock Reference (PCR) offset data that can be used for PCR re-stamping.

Presented herein are pilot-less noise estimation techniques that utilize a correlation between attributes of a received signal and the noise to generate signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) estimate for the signal. More specifically, an interval of a digital signal is received a log-likelihood ratio (LLR) value is calculated for a plurality of bits in the interval of the signal. A scalar value that relates to a distribution of the calculated LLR values is computed. The SNR for the interval of the signal is determined based on a predetermined correlation between the scalar value and noise within the received interval of the signal.

Pilot-less noise estimation

A system, and related methodology, are provided that are configured to receive, at a first network element such as a Universal Edge Quadrature Amplitude Modulator (UEQAM), multiple channels of data delivered as respective streams of packets, form a packet switched communication frame including a sub-layer header, encapsulate packets from the respective multiple channels into a payload field of the packet switched communication frame, identify the packets encapsulated in the payload field with respective tags in the sub-layer header, and transmit the packet switched communication frame to a second network element such as a Downstream Physical (DS-PHY) entity where the individual packets are recovered and mapped to selected respective stream processing resources based on respective tags.
