An information handling system selects applicable display partitions based on the properties of a display screen, and determines a preferred window size of an application. The system adjusts a target zone of a window of the application based on the preferred window size.

Adaptive display screen partitioning

In response to detecting that a display device is in a multi-stream transport mode, an information handling system determines a display partition layout of the display device. The system transmits setup display patterns according to the display partition layout of the display device, wherein the setup display patterns include a first display pattern and a second display pattern, wherein the first display pattern is associated with a first display partition, and wherein the second display pattern is associated with a second display partition. In response to determining that the first display pattern should be associated with the second display partition and that the second display pattern should be associated with the first display partition, the system associates the first display pattern with the second display partition and associates the second display pattern with the first display partition.

Automatic configuration of sub-display positions in multi-stream transport mode

Described are systems and methods to synchronize adaptive luminance and color controls of multiple displays. The displays are included in ambient light sensor (ALS) cluster that includes ALS equipped and non ALS equipped displays. An ALS equipped display is designed as primary display and the other displays are designed as follower displays. ALS equipped displays collect ALS readings which are used to determine luminance and color tone/Correlated Color Temperature (CCT). The determined luminance and CCT are arbitrated, and the arbitrated luminance and CCT are provided to the displays for use. The displays can be daisy chained, and the primary display collects, arbitrates, and provides the luminance and CCT. In certain implementations, an IHS (i.e., software on the IHS) collects, arbitrates, and provides the luminance and CCT.

System and method to synchronize adaptive luminance and color controls among multiple displays

Systems and methods are provided that may be implemented to identify viewable areas of a display panel (such as a liquid crystal display (LCD) panel) of a display panel assembly that are currently not utilized by a user, and then to selectively and dynamically turn off backlights or blocks of backlights (e.g., such as light emitting diode 'LED' backlight elements) that illuminate viewable areas of the display panel that correspond to these non-utilized viewable areas. The secondary display area may present visual images for IoT or similar headless devices having relevance to an end user of a primary information handling system.

A method for processing images by an information handling system includes receiving image data including first frames captured using a first exposure at a first frame rate and second frames captured using a second exposure at a second frame rate. The first frame rate is greater than the second frame rate. The method includes merging each second frame of the second frames with each first frame of a corresponding plurality of the first frames to generate a corresponding plurality of merged frames. Each merged frame of the corresponding plurality of merged frames may have a dynamic range of tonal values greater than each dynamic range of tonal values of each frame merged to form the merged frame.

In one or more embodiments, a display may receive a command that includes configuration information associated with a video stream, receive a video frame and may determine if the video frame is a synchronization frame. If the video frame is to be displayed, the display may display the video frame and may provide the video frame to the other display or the repeater. An information handling system operating an adaptive HDR tone mapping system may comprise a display screen including a plurality of pixels operating at a lower dynamic range of brightness values, a graphics processor executing code instructions to prepare data of an HDR digital image for display at the lower dynamic range, to determine a relative brightness ratio comparing a number of pixels in the data for the image to display at a brightness level below a typical display brightness and at or above the typical display brightness, and to generate a tone map to modify the data of the image if the relative brightness ratio does not meet or exceed a preset threshold such that the pixels are mapped to a maximum brightness of a peaking display brightness level of the display screen, and the display screen displaying the plurality of pixels according to the first adaptive tone map modification.

System and method for adaptive tone mapping for high dynamic ratio digital images

An adaptive learning algorithm uses a light sensor and a content analyzer to generate boost curves of low-end pixel values to boost the brightness of display content. The adaptive learning algorithm considers the user's manual input to learn the user's preferred boost curves for given conditions. The boost curves are used to digitally boost the gain of the low-end pixels to have higher brightness to improve the visibility of dark display content.
