A method and a system for forming a device network is provided. The method comprises providing a plurality of network devices and a plurality of gateways in a physical environment, collecting position data of the plurality of gateways, selecting a network device out of the plurality of network devices, and selecting a first gateway based on the position data. The method further comprises connecting the network device to the first gateway, if the total number of the network devices connected to the first gateway does not exceed a predefined maximum number of network devices per gateway, and selecting a second gateway based on the position data and connecting the network device to the second gateway, if the total number of the network devices connected to the first gateway exceeds the predefined maximum number of network devices per gateway.

Method and system for forming a device network

A method for managing network devices is provided. The method comprises collecting position data of at least one network device with a location device for determining the position of the at least one network device relative to at least one positioning base, collecting device information data from the at least one network device with the location device, the device information data representing individual properties of the at least one network device, determining the position of the at least one network device according to the position data, providing a model of the physical environment based on environment data, and mapping the at least one network device to the model of the physical environment such that the device information data of the at least one network device is assigned to at least one location in the model of the physical environment, according to the position of the at least one network device.

A method and a system for forming a network of network devices, the method including providing a plurality of network devices in a physical environment, each of the plurality of network devices being controllable by a mobile network module connectable to the network devices. A network configuration device with a memory unit for storing device configuration data connects a mobile network module to the network configuration device. The mobile network module reads out the device configuration data stored in the memory unit of the network configuration device. The mobile network module connects to a network device and configuring the network device, based on the device configuration data.
