A distal radial plate including a longitudinal segment having a proximal end and a distal end; a transverse segment having a lateral end and a medical end; the distal end of the longitudinal segment attached to the transverse segment intermediate the lateral and medial ends of the transverse segment to form a T-shape; the longitudinal segment having a plurality of spherically recessed holes and having a slot with a proximal end and a distal end; the distal end of the slot having a spherical recess; the proximal end of the slot having a beveled edge which converges distally with the spherical recess of the slot; the transverse segment having a plurality of spherically recessed holes. An extender seats in one of the holes in the transverse segment of the distal radial plate and provides an additional hole on the lateral side of the transverse segment of the plate. Buttress pins have specially formed collars to be secured to the distal radial plate via a &ldquo;snap-lock.&rdquo; A slotted-style distal radial plate bender has slots for receiving and bending both the transverse and longitudinal segments of the distal radial plate.
