A heat exchange system for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) may comprise a burner box, a hot collector box, and a heat exchanger tube. The heat exchanger tube may be disposed between, and in fluid communication with, the hot collector box and the burner box. The heat exchanger tube may be rigidly connected to at least one of the hot collector box or burner box by a swaged joint.

Burner holders and cartridges of a furnace are described herein, which include a support assembly and a manifold. The support assembly is configured to support one or more burners. For example, the support assembly may include a burner holder with a cutout region, which may allow a burner to be moved between an operational position and a disengaging position by twisting the burner. The cutout region can allow the one or more burners to be removed or installed relatively easily, without the need of removing the manifold from the support assembly. The manifold can be attached to the support assembly by, for example, using one or more orifices as fasteners.

A furnace has a cabinet having at least one wall at least partially defining an interior space of the cabinet, a heat exchanger disposed in the interior space, and a protrusion formed integrally with the at least one wall, the protrusion extending generally inward into the furnace to at least partially obstruct a circulation airflow through the cabinet.

Systems and methods are disclosed which may include (1) providing a preselected and/or non-uniform airflow distribution output from a heat exchanger, (2) selectively directing air through a relatively lower resistance flowpath to manage an airflow characteristic and/or distribution downstream of the heat exchanger, (3) providing an HVAC system comprising a heat exchanger comprising a fin arrangement configured to cause relatively more air to contact a selected component that lies either upstream or downstream relative to the heat exchanger, and (4) receiving a relatively uniform airflow into a heat exchanger and outputting an airflow comprising a localized increased airflow rate. A heat exchanger comprising differentiated resistance flowpaths may selectively affect a direction and/or localized flow rate or distribution of an airflow exiting the heat exchanger.

Apparatus for expelling air from a liquid storage tank, such as a hot water storage tank includes a bleed line coupled between a water circulating pump discharge conduit and a hot water discharge line emanating from tank 10. The bleed line is connected to the hot water discharge line at a location which is elevated with respect to a location where the bleed line is connected to the pump discharge conduit. The pump is operable to draw hot water from the top part of the tank and discharge it into a cold water fill line extending into the tank to enhance water circulation in the tank. Air and other gas released when water is heated in the top part of the tank are drawn from the top part of the tank and expelled via the bleed line, to prevent accumulation of air and other gas in the tank. In accordance with another aspect of the invention, an elongated tubular member is inserted into the cold water fill line. The tubular member has a bushing with a tapered surface for directing the incoming cold water into a first fluid passageway within the tubular member. A second fluid passageway is defined between the tubular member and the cold water fill line. The water circulating pump discharges hot water from the top part of the tank into the second passageway so that the hot water does not mix with the incoming cold water until the incoming cold water is injected back into the second passageway at the lower end of the tubular member.
