A circuit, having a plurality of regulated, parallel, voltage sources, an a.c.-d.c. converter circuit and a regulating unit, and a method for controlling it. The regulated voltage sources include an unregulated voltage source of a temporally variable output d.c. voltage, a step-up converter and an associated regulating device, where the step-up converter is a three-point step-up converter. The regulating unit measures the intermediate circuit voltage of the a.c.-d.c. converter circuit and is connected with the regulating devices. In the method for control, the regulating unit determines the voltage in the intermediate circuit of the a.c.-d.c. converter circuit and from this determines, as a function of the maximally and minimally permissible intermediate circuit voltage, a set-point value for the output voltage of the regulated voltage sources. This set-point value is transmitted to the regulating devices, from which the regulating devices determine the control conditions for the step-up converter.

Switching configuration and procedure for the production of one alternating voltage from a majority of unrelated supply terminals with temporally variable output DC voltage

A circuit comprising at least one parallel-connected partial circuit for feeding at least one inverter circuit. A partial circuit consists of an unregulated voltage source having a temporally varying DC output voltage, a voltage doubling circuit and a voltage regulating circuit with an associated regulating device. In the inventive method, the voltage doubling circuit doubles the voltage of the unregulated voltage source. The regulation of the current/voltage characteristic curve, the MPP tracking, of the unregulated voltage source is effected by the regulating device of the voltage regulating circuit.

Circuit and method for generating an AC voltage from a plurality of voltage sources having a temporally variable DC output voltage

A power semiconductor module having at least one fuse. The power semiconductor module comprises a housing, load terminal elements that lead outside of the housing, and a substrate disposed inside the housing with a plurality of metal connecting tracks of different polarity electrically insulated from one another. On at least one of these connecting tracks, at least one power semiconductor component is disposed and is connected correctly in terms of circuitry to first connecting elements that have a first line cross section. The fuse comprises a second connecting element that has a second line cross section, less than the first, and is disposed between two connecting tracks and/or between a connecting track and a load terminal element. The second connecting element is sheathed in one portion by an explosion protection means.

Method for operating a converter circuit with voltage boosting with N half-bridges, which in each case can be connected by their center connection to a phase of an N-phase generator and at an end side are connected in parallel with a series circuit formed by two capacitances, wherein each half-bridge contains a Top switch and a Bot switch, in which, in a PWM method with a fixed period duration at the beginning of the period duration, all the TOP switches are simultaneously switched on for the duration of a TOP switched-on interval. After half the period duration all the BOT switches are simultaneously switched on for the duration of a BOT switched-on interval wherein the TOP switched-on interval, and the BOT switched-on interval amount at most to half the duration of the period.

A method of and a system for controlling a permanent magnet AC generator (), wherein the generator is provided with stator windings and permanent magnets in the rotor and wherein the generator is connected to a drive unit (), wherein the generator is further provided with a semiconductor converter provided with AC output connected to the generator output and a DC link for controlling the output voltage of the generator, and the converter is further provided with filter means for filtering the output of the converter so that a filtered output of the converter is fed to the generator output.

Permanent magnet generator control

A frequency converter circuit for a double-fed asynchronous generator with a variable power output, which can be connected to a voltage network contains a rotor rectifier, which can be connected to the rotor of the asynchronous generator, a network frequency converter, which can be connected to the voltage network, and an intermediate circuit. The intermediate circuit contains a semiconductor switch arranged on the rotor rectifier, an intermediate circuit capacitor arranged on the network frequency converter, and a diode arranged between the semiconductor switch and the intermediate circuit capacitor. According to a method for operating such a frequency converter circuit, the semiconductor switch is kept closed during the sub-synchronous operation of the asynchronous generator, and during at least some periods of synchronous or super-synchronous operation of the asynchronous generator the semiconductor switch is opened.

Frequency converter for a double-fed asynchronous generator with variable power output and method for its operation

Proposed is a power semiconductor module with a housing and one or a plurality of half-bridge circuitries arranged therein. Each half-bridge circuitry has a first (TOP) and a second (BOT) power switch and each switch is comprised of one power transistor and a corresponding power diode (recovery diode). The power semiconductor module furthermore has a positive polarity direct current lead and a negative polarity direct current lead. Per each half-bridge circuitry it furthermore has two alternate current leads that are not directly connected electrically. Each TOP transistor is connected to the power diode of the BOT switch and a first alternate current lead and each BOT transistor is connected to the power diode of the TOP switch and a second alternate current lead.

Power semiconductor module with reduced parasitic inductance

Proposed is a circuitry and a related control mechanism for a vehicle with electric drive only or for a vehicle with hybrid drive comprised of an electric and a combustion motor. This circuitry has a multi-phase machine and two direct current units. Furthermore, an arrangement of power semiconductor components, in two converters in bridge arrangement of two semiconductor switches whose respective alternating current connections are connected in phase direction and to the connections of the multi-phase machine. The negative polarity connections of the two direct current units and the two converters are also connected to each other, the positive polarity connection of the first direct current unit is connected to the positive connection of the first convert by means of a flow control valve and the positive polarity connection of the second direct current unit is connected to the positive connection of the second converter by means of a flow control valve. Furthermore, a method is described for quasi-simultaneously supplying a multi-phase machine in motor operation from both direct current units and for supplying a first direct current unit from a second direct current unit with lower output voltage than the first one.

Circuitry and related control method for an electric or hybrid vehicle with two direct current sources

A converter circuit for a wind power system for supplying a high-voltage direct voltage connection. The system includes a transformer with one primary winding per phase and a plurality of secondary windings per phase. Three of these secondary windings of different phase are connected to each rectifier cell. These rectifier cells are connected to one another by their inputs and outputs. The rectifier cells themselves each include one input rectifier and two series-connected upward converters, and the center tap of the secondary winding of the transformer is connected to the center points of the series circuit of the upward converters.

Circuit for converting alternating voltage into high-voltage direct voltage

Method of controlling a voltage controlled PWM (Pulse Width Modulated) frequency converter comprising a single phase rectifier bridge () connectable to a sinusoidal single phase supply, a DC intermediate circuit () and a controlled inverter bridge () for generating an AC output voltage with varying amplitude and frequency to a load, said inverter bridge () having PWM controlled semiconductor switches (VV) and flywheel diodes (DD) connected in inverse-parallel with the semiconductor switches, wherein the DC intermediate circuit () is provided with a DC capacitor unit, and wherein the frequency converter is controlled so that the supply line current (I) is essentially sinusoidal and in phase with the supply line voltage (U). The inverter bridge is controlled so that the curve of filtered average current (I) in the DC intermediate circuit follows essentially the curve of the rectified AC supply voltage (U), the rectifier bridge is () connected to the inverter bridge () directly without a DC capacitor unit acting as an intermediate energy storage, and the curve of the power fed to the load has essentially the form sin(2&#x3c0;ft) (f=line frequency t=time).

Frequency converter and its control method

A power converter circuit and associated triggering method for connecting a three-phase generator to an electrical network. The circuit includes a first direct connection of the generator to the network and a second connection of the generator to the network, through a four-quadrant converter which includes a first power converter, whose alternating voltage terminals are connected to the generator, and a second power converter, whose alternating voltage terminals are connected to the network. The triggering method for power compensation in the event of a short circuit is such that in a first period of time after the short, the second power converter outputs reactive power into the network; in a second period of time, the power converter feeds reactive power back into the network; and in a third period of time, the entire four-quadrant converter controls the gentle restarting, without loading the network with reactive power from the generator.

Power converter circuit and associated triggering method for generators with dynamically variable power output

An electrical circuit for producing a three-phase AC current from a low-power generator (10 kW to 5 MW) and for feeding the current into a power grid has a forward mode where energy flows from the generator to the power grid or to an energy-storage device and a reverse mode where energy flows from the power grid or from the energy-storage device back to the generator. To support the forward mode, the circuit has a generator-adjacent circuit stage with diode rectifiers and booster circuits, an intermediate circuit stage with two capacitor groups arranged in series, and a grid-adjacent circuit stage with an inverter. To support the reverse mode, the circuit has diode rectifiers and booster circuits in the grid-adjacent circuit stage, the two capacitor groups of the intermediate circuit stage, and an inverter in the generator-adjacent circuit stage.

Electrical circuit for generating a three-phase alternating current

The invention relates to a frequency converter for an energy flow from a three-phase network to a consumer for medium and high output voltages, with variable frequency, current and voltage outputs, fed from secondary windings of a transformer with one or more cells per output phase (R, S, T). For each output phase, each identical cell has a diode input rectifier circuit, an active harmonic filter, an intermediate-circuit capacitance, and a three-point DC/AC converter on the output side.

Frequency converter

A power converter circuit for wind power devices which feed into a high-voltage grid consisting of a power converter circuit arrangement to transform the variable frequency and variable voltage alternating current generated in the AC voltage generator into DC. The DC is chopped to again produce AC but with a fixed frequency and voltage. The power converter consists of a cascaded serial arrangement of several power converter cells. The power converter cells are made dynamically active or inactive by the master control unit, depending on the power being generated by the AC voltage generator. Each phase of each power converter cell supplies a primary winding of an output transformer.

Power converter circuit arrangement for generators with dynamically variable power output

A power semiconductor circuit provides a simple gate drive for switch components for the use in parallel-connected half-bridges, taking into consideration a gate voltage limitation to achieve short-circuit resistance. The circuit consists of drive circuits and main power circuits. The present invention contributes to solving the problems of the influence of the main power circuit on the drive circuit. According to the invention, switching transistors connected in parallel to the driver through separate activation and deactivation resistors, the former of relatively low resistance and the latter of relatively high resistance. Each of the switching transistors has an emitter resistor connected in parallel with a respective clamping diode to a sum point at ground, the cathode to the emitter. Each of the activation resistors is connected in series to the driver through a respective diode whose cathode is connected to the activation resistor. The gate of each switching transistor is connected to a supply voltage through a respective shunt diode with the cathode connected to the supply voltage to ensure that, due to the switching transistor's internal capacitive reactions, no gate voltage increase occurs that is higher than the supply voltage of the driver stage. The diodes are connected in series with the activation resistors prevent equalization between the gate ports via these resistors. Fast epitaxial diodes should be preferred in the gate circuit because of their low parasitic capacitances.
