Systems and methods for providing energy to an electronic device electrically coupled to a local distribution network are disclosed. In some embodiments, the method comprises determining an energy demand of the local distribution network and determining whether the energy demand exceeds a distribution limit of the local distribution network. In accordance with a determination that the energy demand exceeds the distribution limit, energy, different from energy provided from an external interface of the local distribution network, is provided to the electronic device.

Various disclosed embodiments include illustrative control units, systems, and methods. In an illustrative embodiment, a control unit includes a processor and computer-readable media that stores computer-executable instructions. The instructions cause the processor to establish a reserve level for a battery of a first device. The reserve level provides sufficient electrical power to enable the device to achieve a function. The instructions further cause the processor to enable the battery to function as a power supply configured to provide electrical power for a second device external to the first device responsive to a power level of the battery exceeding the reserve level and to disable use of the battery as the power supply for the second device responsive to the power level of the battery being below the reserve level.

Control units, systems, and methods for establishing reserve power limits

Various disclosed embodiments include illustrative controller units, systems, vehicles, and methods. In an illustrative embodiment, a control unit includes a communication device, a processor, and non-transitory computer-readable media configured to store computer-executable instructions. The instructions cause the processor to receive a signal indicating connection of a battery to a direct current bus, determine availability of electrical power from a first non-grid source, and instruct charging the battery with the electrical power from the first non-grid source responsive to determining that the electrical power from the first non-grid source is available.

A modular inverter is disclosed that provides users flexibility in which devices can be installed in their system by supporting a plurality of different types of DC-to-DC converters, where each DC-to-DC converter corresponds to one of a plurality of loads. The modular inverter houses the plurality of different types of DC-to-DC converters in a plurality of bays, which couples each DC-to-DC converter to a DC rail to either receive or deliver DC power.
