Methods, systems, and devices for data management are described. The method may include obtaining first subsamples of a data table, where the first subsamples include information from a first quantity of columns of the data table. The method may also include processing the first subsamples of the data table to identify whether the information included in the first subsamples includes a target type of information. The method may include obtaining a second subsample of the data table, where the second subsample includes information from a subset of columns of the first quantity of columns. The method may include processing the second subsample of the data table to identify whether information included in the subset comprises the target type of information and identifying, based at least in part on processing the one or more first subsamples and the second subsample, one or more locations of the target type of information within the data table.

Detection of target data in databases

Techniques for database discovery are described. A networked computing system comprises a backup node cluster of a backup service in communication with a host database node cluster of a host, a host database at least initially undiscovered by the backup node cluster, one or more processors coupled with memory storing instructions that, when executed, perform operations comprising at least installing a backup agent on at least one node of the host database node cluster, registering the host at the backup service, based on the host registration, triggering a host database discovery process to discover the undiscovered database automatically, the discovery process including a discovery call, in response to the discovery call, receiving metadata relating to the discovered database, and communicating with the discovered database.

Automated discovery of databases

A data backup server may obtain, for a set of databases that includes a primary database and a set of standby databases configured to be synchronized with the primary database. The data backup server may identify, based on the role information, a data backup group that includes a subset of the databases. In some examples, the first database may be included in the data backup group based on being a primary database, the one or more second databases may be included in the data backup group based at least in part on being standby databases of a first type, and the one or more third databases may be excluded from the data backup group based on being standby databases of a second type. The data backup server may then perform a backup procedure based on generating a snapshot of a database within the data backup group.

Backup management for synchronized databases

In some examples, a networked computing system comprises a backup node cluster of a backup service in communication with a host database node cluster of a host, a host database at least initially undiscovered by the backup node cluster, one or more processors coupled with memory storing instructions that, when executed, perform operations comprising at least installing a backup agent on at least one node of the host database node cluster, registering the host at the backup service, based on the host registration, triggering a host database discovery process to discover the undiscovered database automatically, the discovery process including a discovery call, in response to the discovery call, receiving metadata relating to the discovered database, and communicating with the discovered database.

A computer-implemented method at a data management system comprises; retrieving start and end times of a backup of a database; retrieving time stamps of log backups of the database; retrieving sequence numbers of the log backups; generating a graphical user interface illustrating a timeline of availability of database restoration and unavailability; making a second backup of the database; illustrating, on the graphical user interface during the making, pending availability of the second database backup; receiving a command to restore the database at an available time as illustrated by the graphical user interface; and restoring the database.
