Systems, apparatus, and methods for controlling power modes in electronic devices are provided. A system may include an electronic device and an input device that sends power mode selection information via a network to a power mode selection receiving component in the electronic device. The electronic device includes a first power component that powers a first component, and a switching component that controls the first power component. The electronic device may include a second power component that powers a second component. The switching component may control the second power component. The power mode selection receiving component and the switching component may be powered independently of the first and the second component. If the power mode selection information indicates an off mode, the electronic device may provide power to the power mode selection receiving component and the switching component and not to the first and the second component.

Systems, apparatus, and methods for power management

Systems and methods are disclosed for comparing selections of text to show differences between the two selections. The text may be selected from the same source or from two different sources. In one implementation, a system receives a first selection of text for comparison and places the selection in a first buffer. The system receives a second selection of text for comparison and places the second selection in a second buffer. The system compares the first buffer and the second buffer to determine differences and displays the differences. In some embodiments, the system may allow a user to choose two buffers from among a plurality of buffers for comparison.

Systems and methods consistent with various disclosed embodiments provide for managing email attachments. In one embodiment, a system is disclosed for managing email attachments. The system may include a memory storing software instructions and one or ore processors configured to execute the software instructions to perform one or more operations. The operations may include providing an interface for converting an original attachment to an email. The operations may also include converting the original attachment to a modified attachment based on input received through the interface. The operations may further include substituting the original attachment to the email with the modified attachment, and providing information to send the email with the modified attachment.

Systems and methods are disclosed for comparing annotations in files to show changes in the annotations at a granular level. In one implementation, a system receives a first file and a second file for comparison. The system determines the annotation ranges for each annotation in the first file and the annotation range for each annotation in the second file. The system then determines the annotations from the first file that overlap with annotations from the second file and compares annotations that overlap. The system then incorporates the comparison of the annotations into a main comparison file. In certain implementations, the system uses an index to determine what annotations overlap. In other implementations, matched pairs are created from overlapping annotations.

A computer software product for allowing simultaneous multi-level collaboration, including in real time between an author and a group of reviewers invited by the author to comment on a document stored in a computer file. The bidirectional communications allows an operation to be performed on a file using a computing device and an external server. In one implementation, an application resides on a desktop computer that is connected to the Internet. The application sends a request to an external server accessible through the Internet using a bidirectional communication system. The server accepts and processes the request and provides data back to the computer via the same bidirectional communication system. A user may then access the data, manipulate it and provide an additional request to the server via the bidirectional communication system.

In one embodiment, a system is disclosed that may be associated with a client device operated by an electronic message recipient. The system may include a memory storing instructions and one or more processors configured to execute the instructions to perform one or more operations. The operations may include intercepting an inbound electronic message sent to the recipient and determining that an electronic document attached to the inbound electronic message includes metadata. The operations may also include creating a modified electronic document by removing at least a portion of the metadata from the attached electronic document, generating a report describing metadata included in the attached electronic document, and generating information for sending the report and the inbound electronic message with the modified electronic document to the client device.
