A film that can be used in packaging applications includes one or more layers, wherein the layers include an anti-fog additive and/or an IR additive and the resulting film has greater than about a 50% prestretch capability.

A chemical anchoring assembly useful for fast application of a driving tool into a borehole includes an elongated tube having a first end and a second end, a quantity of chemical anchoring material within the elongated tube, and a vent at the second end of the elongated tube. As an anchor pin is driven through the elongated tube and into the borehole, forcing the chemical anchoring material into the borehole, some of the pressure caused by compression of the chemical anchoring material is released into the vent, allowing easier driving of the anchor pin.

An anchoring adhesive combination includes a slug or package of chemical anchoring adhesive having a proximal end and a distal end and a rod which can be a penetrator having a pointed proximal end, and open distal end, and a threaded or corrugated outer surface. The pointed proximal end of the penetrator is connected to the distal end of the slug or package of chemical anchoring adhesive so that the pointed proximal end is at least partially surrounded by chemical anchoring adhesive. The open distal end of the penetrator receives a proximal end of an anchor pin to form a combination of anchor pin, penetrator and slug or package of anchoring adhesive in series. By placing the combination adjacent to a borehole and simply pounding a distal end of the anchor pin an integrated method is performed whereby a) anchoring adhesive is released and mixed in the borehole, b) the inner wall of the borehole is scrubbed and scored by the outer surface of the penetrator, and c) the anchor pin is both mechanically anchored in the borehole using the penetrator and chemically anchored using the mixed chemical anchoring adhesive.

Anchoring adhesive combination and integrated method of applying it

A new and improved sealed joint or system is disclosed for securing together the opposite ends of plastic strapping, which is encircled around the package or bale, in order to ensure that the opposite ends of the plastic strapping do not exhibit any slipping or relative movement with respect to each other whereby the predeterminedly formed size or shape of the package or bale is able to be preserved or maintained. In accordance with various different embodiments of the present invention, different arrangements of the sealed joint, with respect to the opposite ends of the plastic strapping, are structured whereby enhanced frictional contact is effectively developed between the sealed joint and the opposite ends of the plastic strapping, or between the opposite ends of the plastic strapping per se, so as to in fact reduce the amount of slipperiness effectively defined between the opposite ends of the plastic strapping. In accordance with a still further embodiment of the present invention, the opposite ends of the plastic strapping are effectively locked within a tubular sleeve member, by means of a chain-link type insert, such that the opposite ends of the plastic strapping are positionally fixed with respect to each other.

A flexible carrier for carrying a plurality of containers, such as soft drink and other beverage containers, is formed from a polymer composition which provides the carrier with improved recovery, tensile strength and tear resistance. The polymer composition includes about 50&#x2013;99% by weight of a low density ethylene polymer having a density of about 0.910&#x2013;0.950 grams/cmand about 1&#x2013;50% by weight of a single site catalyzed ethylene-alpha olefin copolymer plastomer having a density of about 0.850&#x2013;0.905 grams/cm.

Flexible carrier

A highly stretched film has permanently heat-sealed edges that are nearly invisible. A folding apparatus folds the edge portions of a film to form folded edges. The folded film then is passed through a bridle mechanism having two heated rolls. A series of nips apply pressure to the folded film as it is heated by the heated rolls. The nip pressure, combined with the heat imparted by the heated rolls, causes thermal welding of the folded edges resulting in permanent heat-sealed edges. Because the film edges are folded prior to the hot-stretching, the hot stretch process performs dual functions of stretching the film and heat sealing the folded edges. The resulting stretched film has permanently heat-sealed edges that do no separate, and which prevent tearing of the film edges during subsequent processing and use.

Process for making stretch film having heat-sealed edges

An apparatus and high speed process for heating and stretching a film having a bridle mechanism comprising a first heated roll and a second heated roll. The film is stretched as the film is transferred from the first heated roll to the second heated roll which rotates at a speed greater than the speed at which the first heated roll rotates. The film is fed into the bridle mechanism at a rate of about 1,500 fpm to about 2,500 fpm wherein it is stretched to a length that is up to about 450% greater than its initial, pre-stretched length. The increased contact between the large diameter heated rolls and the film and the short draw gap between the two heated rolls result in a highly stretched film having minimal neck-in.
