The wireless mouse microcontroller executing code instructions to determine a standby mode or an active mode based on input from an actuation/engagement sensor with regard to user engagement and, with the wireless mouse PMU, switch between a power source from the battery to the ultracapacitor when the wireless mouse is in a standby mode and to switch back when the wireless mouse is in active use.
